Before my friends bought me a graphic pad and introduced me to the right software… I used MS Paint only.
I came across Fiona O’Neill when researching designers of interest to me. O’Neill in particular stood out to me the most. Irish born Fiona O’Neill is the designer behind the self named label launched in 2019. Her brand explores themes of surrealism and optical illusions.
As I’m looking into the theme of ‘Movement’ through line pattern and optical illusions I thought O’Neill was a perfect artist to get inspiration from. I’m particularly interested in seeing how lines can effect still images into making them look warped as if they are moving.
I feel like she is an artist that I can use across all three electives. Fashion, Print and Graphic Design. O’Neill uses printing in order to make her patterns aswell as painting by hand and ceramic sculpting. She uses eco friendly materials in her creations to work towards further sustainability for the future.
Since graduating from Central Saint Martins with a Ba in Womenswear Fashion Design she has received accolades in innovative design from L’Oreal Profeshional Prize and H&M Design Award. Her prints and designs have been featured in exhibitions internationally. She has been commissioned from Bjork for specially designed pieces and has featured in leading publications such as The Gentlewoman, Vogue Italia, Dazed and the Times.

I am finally doing something that was one of my goals for early quarantine–Learn more code. I got this online class forever ago, like May probably. Looking forward to a very empty summer, I planned to do this all summer. It is a full front and back end coding class.
