I am going to be the girl you will be referring to in the future while telling your stories to your new friends. They type of stories that end with the sentence :”So yeah, I lost the love of my life.”
The stories were not true.
He did not kidnap her.
It was a day as any other, and Hades was making his rounds as usual.
His kingdom was dark and dreary, as one could imagine. The ground was not smooth or straight, it was rough with sharp stones and gravel. Above, the roof reached far up and looked like the roof of a cave, with stalactites hanging down almost threatening. The flowing River Styx could be heard, which you could consider soothing, especially as it masked the wailing of the souls damned to the Underworld. This was his world, his home of which he knew every corner of.
Though this one day, he stumbled across something new.
Coming to a small corner, he noticed a light. Sunlight to be exact. Such a light was unfamiliar to him, as light itself never entered his world. His world was dark, in every sense of the word. But now before him, a dim light was emitting in the corner of his dark word and he became strangely drawn to it.
He approached carefully, as if the light would harm him. As he came closer, he saw that the light was not coming from above, but from a girl .
His curiosity deepened and he came to kneel beside her.
Who was she?
How did she come to be here?
He had many questions but they all soon went away, as he was struck by her beauty.
Her skin looked warm and smooth, with flushes of pink on her cheeks. Her eyes were shut and her eyelashes, settled delicately on her cheeks. Her hair was auburn spreading in waves around her. Her body petite, laying in a curve, showing off slender legs and elegant arms. White flowers were growing in speed right there beside her and in her hair.
It was then that he knew, this was the daughter of the earth, Persephone.
She must have fallen, he thought for certain, and she must be hurt.
Gently, so not to harm her, he lifted her in his arms.
And when she did not stir, he turned to take her to his palace.
This is the truth and this is the story.
He did not kidnap her, she came to him.

At night I see your lips like
a fruit bitten in half.
Come, this day is so nice - the poems
I love I want to live with you.
I’ve always had an interest in Sirens. I mean I’m interested in all folklore and mythological creatures but I’ve always wondered about sirens yet never looked deeper into them. I guess we can both learn some stuff together.
One day while Persephone was out picking flowers with her friends, the Earth opened and Hades snatched Persephone to be his wife for all eternity. Her companions weren’t there at the time so they couldn’t prevent this from happening.
Roman poets made them residents of small islands called Sirenum scopuli ,surrounded by cliffs and rocks where they would lure in men.

The call of the siren-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtPDLZyRL3o
The majority of the time, when people claim to have a picture of a mermaid or a siren, they are just fakes created by people hoping to gain fame and fortune. These are often debunked.
Much earlier on January 9th 1493, Christopher Columbus himself reported seeing three mermaids near the Dominican Republic. He described them as ‘not half as beautiful as they are painted’, which is quite different from other sightings that describe them as ‘full of grace’ and possessing an ‘unimaginable beauty’
Historians generally agree that the mermaid sightings were likely just manatees. Being starved of female company after sailing for an incredibly long time may have stretched the sailors imaginations.
I don’t think the belief of the Siren/mermaid will ever die out. Even if it is fake people will continue to come forward with sightings. But who knows, we’re not even close to exploring all of the ocean so we can’t really be sure.
