So, I got contacted this morning by the help desk representative. His name is Roberto, and he was very cordial.
Unfortunately, he also couldn’t help me.
As much as I’d love to help, we don’t do moderation here, and I would need to ask you to request an appeal for any post that you find that was miscategorized … Also, if content has already been reviewed by one of our trained experts, then it cannot be appealed, and will say so in the banner on the post.
This is an abridgment/excerpt of key parts of the email he sent me, not the entire text. A lot of the rest talked about how to go about appealing, which as I said, I’ve already tried.
I have now replied and informed him of the fact that I already tried appealing (something I clearly mentioned in the original ticket, so I don’t know why he sent that speech about appealing in the first place when I said my appeal had already been denied), and of the suspicious circumstances surrounding said appeal. I also have asked that since he and his department don’t handle moderation that he put me in contact with a moderator who CAN help me. Or better yet, with the same moderator who originally deemed my post as violating the guidelines, so I can talk with him or her and find out exactly what their rationale was for the ruling that was given on the image.
As I said in the email, I’m a reasonable man. If they can give me justifiable evidence of breaking the guidelines, I’ll let it go. But so far, all I’ve heard is the same old line of “trained expert.” Which smacks heavily of “Don’t rock the boat. Don’t question our moderators. They know of which they speak.”
Now, don’t get the wrong idea. Robert is acting according to his training. I’ve worked in Customer Service. I know where he’s coming from. This is a standard Customer Service tactic designed to help divert aggression and to inform the customer to basically not shoot the messenger. He doesn’t have the authority to help me, and that’s fine. It’s frustrating, but fine, and to take it out on him would be childish and inappropriate.
But I am positive that he can get me in contact with someone who does, and I hope he will. If not, I’ll ask to be put in contact with his manager or supervisor, instead, and move forward from there.
Wish me luck, everyone.
also i’m fucking losing it
