    Cereseto castle and its secrets

Completed in 1913, Cereseto Castle has a history of splendor and culture and, despite it does not have a long history behind, it has a lot to tell.

Cereseto is about 50 kilometres east of Turin and about 30 kilometres northwest of Alessandria, Northern Italy. Probably established around 500–600 AD. and mentioned in records of the Bishop of Asti from around 957 AD., it is perched on a hill, and is dominated by its castle. The town was the property of the Graseverto family of Asti, who probably built the first castle around 900–1000 AD, but…

#i'm halfway though season 13 now and i'm so bored #i swore i was going to make it to the end #but it's really hard right now because i'm so uninvested in the narrative #and i'd much rather rewatch seasons 2 and 3 #(or watch schitt's creek) #also lucifer has to be the most uncharismatic villain in the history of villains why did they bring him back in the first place and why #did they drag him through all the later seasons? #he's so annoying i wish i could just skip all his scenes #:/

An Irish (true) story: the Enniscorthy poltergeist

An Irish (true) story: the Enniscorthy poltergeist

You want to exange this life of the modern journalist for the dashing life of an Edwardian hunter news? Well, a century ago, back in 1910, one of the local reporters for County Wexford, Ireland, was one Nicholas Murphy, a man of the Roman Catholic faith who lived at George’s Street in the town of Enniscorthy. He was aged in or around forty at the time, when the call came to cover a most unusual…

favorite panels from Girls’ Last Tour
#girl’s last tour #forgive me as i go off in the tags for a second #but i was not expecting the art in this manga to be so striking #like. tsukumizu is just so good with lighting its insane #chii and yuu go back and forth between really dark spaces and really bright spaces and each time the shift in environment shows- #not just a new place but a new tone and its like hhhhh WOW okay guess we're just going to contemplate the definition of a living creature- #in pitch black as we hold hands. #WHAT?! #you're just gonna take me through the entire history of philosophy with the last two people on earth?? and im going to cry the whole time?? #ANYWAY #i obviously think very highly of this manga and 100% recommend it

South Stack Lighthouse: one of Wales’ most visited and spectacular lighthouses

South Stack Lighthouse: one of Wales’ most visited and spectacular lighthouses

South Stack is one of Wales’ most visited and spectacular lighthouses. It is located about 2-3 miles west of Holyhead, on a tiny islet just off Holy Island on the North West tip of Anglesey. It has been a warning beacon for passing ships since it’s construction over 200 years ago, cautioning them of the deadly rocks below. The lighthouse helps guide shipping in the busy channel into the Mersey…

do you ever read a book that's like. not poorly written but it really doesn't do anything for you but you keep reading waiting for that moment where everything clicks but it just doesn't come, and you're halfway through the book and you kinda don't want to read anymore but you hate leaving books half read and also you loved the author's previous work so you're trying to give it a chance so you plow through anyway and by the end you feel relieved but also bloated like you've stuffed yourself with some really mediocre food and you need a palate cleanser

#i feel like i wasted $13 😔 #yesterday was so shitty and this book really didn't help hhghfhfhf god. i need to read something good now #or maybe i'll just take a small break from reading and catch up on anime and castlevania #yeah i think i'll do it #the next book i read will be the wolf and the woodsman with jenna 😌 sincerely hoping it'll be a good read!! im excited #this book....it just. ugh. #i'm starting to realize that contemporary is a genre i rarely read. it's just not for me #actually let me think about the books i've read in recent memory that have contemporary settings #the secret history/if we were villains/the raven cycle/the dreamer trilogy/the carry on trilogy #all these books are exceptional 😌 the secret history did feel like a fever dream though. but the prose was Seductive. #i couldn't put that book down. it was just as hypnotic and mesmerizing as the bacchus rituals described in it. #i'll never read another book like it #anyway. with these books it's either the prose or more importantly the characters that make it for me #or in rare cases the setting. the setting has to feel like its own entity. like in the secret history #like...in contemporary the setting is our world and that's just boring for me. the other elements of the story have to be well done #for me to get invested #OR the setting has to be written in such a way that it's not mundane #and this book i just read....it takes place in new york. and i thought it'd be exciting but....no #i was bored 😔 #like in the dreamer trilogy the settings are also these major cities. but the focus is on art galleries or underground auctions or forests #which automatically makes me more interested in them #with this book it was like....the subway. a pancake place. #and it just didn't do anything for me hghfhfh i wanted it to but it just didn't. esp since the author said this book is a love letter to nyc #it didn't endear me to the city though i'm sorry #maybe if you're from nyc or familiar with it you'd like it #but also the characters just....fell flat. i couldn't really care for them either #like when i was halfway through and the mc still didn't leave an impression i was like. oh no #for me it's like. if the characters don't leave some sort of impression on me (not even necessarily a positive one) it's just hard to read #the romance just fell flat too. it was like a love at first sight thing which....no. i want development. i want a slow burn. #it wasn't BAD. it was just painfully average.

i’ve been watching Sweet Tooth a little and the premise is pretty irritating: that all of humanity just abandoned their newborns because they’re suddenly half-animal, and that they’re blamed for a virus, and that people literally tie the Sick down and set the house on fire

#im sorry but in the history of humanity this is bullshit. most people fight tooth and nail for their kids #and who THE FCUK burns someone alive for being sick ahahahahah whaaaaaat the fuck #sweet tooth #buuuuut maybe it's just america and some other places. maybe elsewhere people were like Well Shit. my kids half fish now i guess. #do you think it's some kind of metaphor that is actually ableism??

    A vast university

The Louvre at night, August 2005 “The whole of Paris is a vast university of Art, Literature and Music… it is worth anyone’s while to dally here for years. Paris is a seminar, a post-graduate course in everything.”  — James Thurber People who love Paris and didn’t love school might not agree with Thurber, but I connected with his description immediately.  Or in the words of Joni Mitchell, “…in…
