… Aloy, no ! I said away from the giant mechanical worm-mole, not toward it !!

Corruption arrows and Mirroring in Horizon, a non comprehensive observation report :D
I love to use corruption arrows. They can be a bit fiddly at first, I think because line of sight is important for engagement in the game. Aloy can break line of sight by hiding behind stuff, for example, to get back into stealth. No need for the red grass. So that works also if you want to initiate mayhem in a group of machines and they are a bit dispersed. If the machine you’re targeting is too isolated from the group, the corruption meter might very well go down before any of its friends notice that they have a sudden foe in their ranks. I’ve seen it happen, both in my gameplay and others. I’ve seen people dismiss the corruption arrows because of that, which is too bad, because they are awesome.
When they work, they can create mayhem in scales previously unseen in your game, especially if you choose your site carefully for maximum machine population and diversity AND add some human patrols in the mix. I have seen things xD (By the way, yes, you can also use overrides to great effect and mirroring might happen then too, but getting close enough to do that can be a problem. I like both mechanics, but corruption arrows can be easier and safer from a distance.)
In any case, machines fighting each other is primarily where mirroring can happen between two machines of a same type, when their animations just align by chance. A few examples beside the ones from my post yesterday.
(Tho this one is mirroring, but inverted ? …weird.)
… whatever THAT monstrosity was (two thunderjaws aggressively trying to reproduce ? OO)
But mirroring isn’t just a combat thing, it also happens sometimes naturally during stalking phases in watchers.
It probably also happens in other pairs of machines, but I haven’t really noticed it so far, beside rockbreakers idle phases like this.
Oh, and not surprisingly at all, mirroring doesn’t happen just to machines, it happens to humans too. :D Look at Olin and that Eclipse guy doing a perfect sync.
In any case, mirroring like this isn’t a hugely common happenstance, as far as I have personally observed, especially outside of player intervention. I suppose the machines wouldn’t look as naturalistic if they were constantly cycling through the exact same animations.
Which makes chance instances interesting and also pretty much very VERY cool, imho.
An example of machines mirroring movements as they fight against each other.
A new place to explore this weekend
