i will never stop thinking about the homoeroticism of your friend applying cherry chapstick for you and later dancing with you to “jessie’s girl” at a party while her boyfriend isn’t there and she makes you forget about everybody else there because she’s only looking at you
『stanley barber’s highlight moments (8/?)』 season 1, episode 4: stan by me
don’t you want to be cool like me and stan?
what a world we live in, syd
syd: kisses dina
overall i give ianowt like. a 7/10.
I actually like the characters for the most part, usually, but I feel like the drama feels too manufactured and cliche sometimes…
and most of all, it’s just… really really cringy sometimes.
like so much secondhand embarrassment/discomfort i was physically recoiling
it took me hours just to get through the last two episodes,
about 70% of what kept me going is that syd’s a lesbian, and I was just really interested in seeing how that would pan out.
of course, the ending just had to go and rip that conclusion away for the forseeable future
and like… it had this quality almost like a bad dream, this ‘there’s no way something like this would really happen’ quality that i really didn’t care for. It was like trying to suspend your disbelief and just accept an unrealistic situation like you usually would, but failing because the whole situation is just that out of place.
Not to mention how much I hate the tipping point/end issue being, in part, her getting publicly outed. like, sure it’s dramatic, but it just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.
We all know damn well the teachers would stop brad before he could talk that long, and realistically the chances that someone’s flagrantly THAT big of a dick are so fucking low. It would’ve been easier to believe if he just spread rumors on the internet or something.
and the whole concept of a mysterious shadow man we know Nothing about suddenly coming to whisk syd away and train her or experiment on her or whatever is just… equally out of place.
it just feels so utterly disjointed compared with the rest of the series, like we’re leading into some kind of hard genre shift that got “foreshadowed” and yet still manages to come off as like, kind of awkwardly tryhard mysterious because said foreshadowing was shallow enough that beyond finally knowing why she’s covered in blood, you don’t even really get any kind of “a-ha!” moment or any true feeling of resolution, it’s purely “what the fuck’s gonna happen now?”
and you know what, having said all this out loud i think im gonna go ahead and drop it to 6/10, because as much as what happens to brad is cathartic as fuck, the whole sequence still felt kind of excessive and unnecessary.
STANLEY BARBER IS MY BABY. AND AINT NOBODY GON HURT HIM.
I Am Not Okay With This (2020-)
Behind The Scene of IANOWT’s Iconic Homecoming Dance
haha this SHOW
Syd: The truth is… Stan and I had sex in the library and it’s all on tape.
Stanley: Dead serious. It was right there in the library. We 69ed and everything.
Syd’s face in the episode 5 was priceless 😂
things i want to see from i am not okay with this season 2 (version 2 because i have new ideas)
-recurrence of the gay janitor (perhaps after some awful supernatural event they seek shelter in a random house and it happens to be his. his husband makes them tea and tries to tell stan hes bisexual) (idk if he is but u cant tell me hes not a LITTLE gay look at his outfits)
-syd killing stans dad <3
-stans mom explained (perhaps,,,, an appearance)
-’the only girl i’ve ever had sex with is a lesbian. okay. great.’ ‘to be fair i was a lesbian before that’
-stan character development, please,,, for the love of GOD hes being abused and hes got his life together? hes having a good time? I DONT BELIEVE YOUUUU
-i feel that there should be a dog. i want someone to get a dog. preferably a mutt that they find in the woods or something.
-syd driving stans car whilst he is in the car (injured in the backseat maybe). syd decides this is the time to reveal that the total of her driving experience is driving a golf cart when she was fourteen.
-more diversity!! i love the show but the current lack of POC characters is yikes. at least give dina some character development so shes more than a shallow best friend that is only spiced up by her being the love interest
-im REALLY hoping her dads ‘note’ is written on a puzzle,, that would be incredibly sexy.
yeah thats all i can think of now but netflix renew this show NOW and make the next season more than 7 fucking episodes
Sydney trying to convince herself that she still doesn’t have superpowers next season like:
