Every country has its own cultures and traditions. I respect all the cultures and traditions, but Indian culture is my favorite culture. Because this country has 29 states, and each state has its own culture and customs. Festivals in India are characterized by prayers and beliefs. In India, every community celebrates different festivals like Hindus celebrate Diwali, Holi, and many more; Punjabis celebrate Baisakhi and Gurupurab; Muslims celebrate Eid. Culture refers to a group's common principles, ethics, beliefs, and practices that shape and govern acceptable and unacceptable behavioral patterns.

India is well-known throughout the universe for its own culture and traditions. It is a nation with many different cultures and traditions. It is home to the globe's ancient cultures. Showing respect, manners, civilized conversation, customs, traditions, morals, etc., are all important aspects of Indian culture. But after everybody's lifestyles had been revolutionized, Indians had maintained their customs and ideals. India is a one-of-a-kind nation because of its ability to bring persons of all cultures and customs altogether.

Moreover, India's culture dates back over 5,000 years, making it the worlds oldest. India's culture is widely regarded as the world's first and greatest. "Unity in Diversity," as the adage goes, refers to India's diversification, in which people of different religions live in harmony while maintaining their distinct customs. People of different religions speak other languages, eat different foods, have different ceremonies, and yet they all live in peace.

The etiquette of India is a blend of British and Eastern culture. It has a western feel to it at times, but not always. To be clear, Indian eating etiquette is unique. Indians eat with their hands because it is customary. Because the left hand is ritually dirty, they usually eat with their right hand solely.

Furthermore, it is customary in India to share food. Indians frequently choose a range of meals to serve. They do not, meanwhile, share utensils or eat off one another's plates. Rather than saying "thank you," they express gratitude and compliment the cuisine.

Indian clothing is identified with the bright silk saris worn by many of the country's women. The dhoti, an unstitched piece of material tied around the middle and legs, is a traditional dress for males. Men sometimes dress a kurta, which is a loose shirt that is stretched to the knees. Moreover, Traditional dress in India varies slightly from north to south, as do the fabrics used in it. Different styles of weaves, coloring, fibers and printing crafts on clothes abound in India. One of the loveliest things regarding India is that they identify specific colors and clothing patterns with specific events.

If I talk about worship in India, people go to the temple, Gurudwara, Masjid, Church. In Indian culture, the cow is recognized as the holy animal. She is worshipped as a caring mother and a symbol of Mother Universe's wealth. Lord Krishna, who grew up as a cow herder, is frequently represented with cows and Gopi's dancing to his melodies. Interestingly, Lord Krishna is also known by 'Govinda' or 'Gopala,' which converts to the 'companion and defender of a cow.' As a result, cows hold a special place in Indian culture and beliefs.

In 1967, Air India had commissioned artist Salvador Dalí to create an ashtray which was given as a gift to first-class passengers. Dali prepared a porcelain ashtray composed of a shell-shaped centre with a swan design. For this, Dali asked for a baby elephant as his fees and the elephant was flown from Bangalore to Geneva

Soft drinks are pretty disgusting but this kerosene lookalike launched in India at the 2003 cricket World Cup managed to stick around for about a year.

Made a playlist which basically (and hopefully) has Semi Classical songs that'll make you feel good and also have some element of vastness in them (coz these are the songs I would listen to while gazing at some beautiful monument)

Mentioned only Agra, Mathura and Rajasthan coz that's the places I have been to most recently (in terms of places with beautiful historical monuments)

Also, I LOVE "A suitable boy" 's cinematography, background music, aesthetics and of course TANYA MANIKTALA❤

Desi culture shames kid who switch careers or drop out of college to pursue something that they care about and I'm here to tell you that there is literally nothing wrong about that. I studied for five years in a med school, got a degree and now I'm working as a full time content writer because my internship during the pandemic last year taught me that I'm not mentally prepared to go back to hospitals. And i am glad that I was able to make that decision when I did. Do what's best for YOU. Your parents or relatives aren't the ones who'll be stuck doing something that drains their soul.

    Celebrating with the Moon

Full moon nights, white flowers, secret dreams and a prayer for love escaping your lips-- for the girls who celebrate, Sharadh Purnima or Kumar Purnami is one festival that borders on the personal and cultural, as every young girl from a young age is told to pray for the man of her dreams to the moon, considered the planet governing emotions, and the diety of love. Ridgegourds, puffed rice, curd and special offerings called "makara chaula" are offered to the moon as girls, from the tender age of just two or three to married women, all come together to celebrate this festival that is an expression of the yearning for love. The prasadam of the Chanda Puja is then given to each girl and she is supposed to hide in whatever nook and corner she finds and enjoy this delicacy in secrecy. Women also pray to the moon god for psychological wellness and emotional regulation.

Silver jewellery is given special importance on this day, as silver is said to be the moon's favoured substance and is also said to have calming properties upon being worn-- an interesting significance since often, girls are gifted silver toe rings for their wedding. Few researches have also found that this does indeed, have reproductive health benefits!

Girls are gifted new clothes, and encouraged to feast and make merry. This festival is popular in the Odiya community, and is counted among their most significant yearly festivals.

So whether you are an Odiya or not, celebrate Kumar Purnami or not, take a moment to glance up at the moon tonight and let your heart speak for itself :)
