Aries: Since the 1800s, magicians have made a living tying themselves up. They put on straitjackets, chains, lock themselves in trunks and then somehow undo all of their binds before our eyes. There is a trick somewhere in there, of course, a special chink in the armor the magician uses that we cannot see. Perhaps see your burdens like this today; you’re just waiting for the right time, the right moment, to undo the latch and have your chains fall away. Just imagining it that way can help make it so.
Taurus: You come upon a crystal shop in the middle of the desert. Rose quartz for love, an obsidian pendant for protection. A store of rocks in a town full of them. Is it funny that we buy these things or a testament to our faith? It takes a certain sort of smart to touch an inanimate object and tune into its energy. There is feeling everywhere, even dry, barren places. Try to pull love from the stone.
Gemini: You are walking and a breeze blows your hair back, almost like you’re being touched. The door is partially cracked and another gust blows it open. You could have done it on your own but you’re glad for the help. What do you do with those moments where you feel some extra presence, though you’re all alone? Do you feel scared or richer? Take notice of hidden resources today, something as small or as large as the wind.
Cancer: “How come you the best to me? I know you the worst for me” Tyler the Creator sings to an unnamed lover on IGOR. “Boy, you sweet as sugar, diabetic to the first degree”. The relationship between too much and a good thing is an interesting one, how the very thing we crave, the very person, can actually wreck you. We can say we give them that power but often we don’t even notice as we’re handing it over. Don’t lament when something sweet becomes unhealthy. Let it be your lesson for the next time.
Leo: Though a formidable sight, a skyscraper is not immune to being broken down. A wrecking ball or stick of dynamite will do the trick. There’s just more to clean up than something smaller. Know then, that change can occur very quickly but the adjustment to an absence takes time and effort. Don’t be afraid. Buildings get knocked down all the time.
Virgo: A piece of clay cannot have any air bubbles if you want to fire it in the kiln. A bit of oxygen lodged in the side can expand in the great heat and cause the whole thing to shatter. If you are unsure if your product has air bubbles or not, you can skip the kiln but it will be much easier to bend and break later on. I advise you take the leap and fire it. You may have to start all over but you also may have something strong to carry water. Fortify yourself and think of how your future selves will thank you.
Libra: We all know the myth of the sword in the stone. Lodged in the rock long ago, many have tried and failed to yank the blade away and failed. Only the “chosen one” can remove it. They make it look so easy. But they were not born knowing what to do. They had to journey, strengthen, undergo trials to know how to wield it. Unlocking new insights and wisdom within yourself can be like that; no one else can do it like you do, and even you can’t do it until you’re ready. Trust timing today, its gradual revelations.
Scorpio: On top of the roof, you can see so much; the forest, the lake, the backs of the houses on the opposite street. Our awareness never ends but our vision does. There’s still so much we are not privy to from this spot. But this bigger view does let you see higher. Just know the limits of what you see; it’s not everything but it’s something.
Sagittarius: You are met at the train station by a man you’ve never met. He’s taking you where you need to go but the two of you don’t talk. You see mountains, forests, lakes through the train window until you stop at the right place and he gets up. The fortune teller you meet tells you that you have what you already need. Sometimes we need a journey, a long way around, to get back to ourselves. That is okay.
Capricorn: Cake batter in the oven becomes something else. There are certain steps to take, ways of mixing, order of ingredients, precise measurements to ensure the oven does the appropriate job but still, letting it rise in high temperatures while you wait is a testament to faith. Notice all the work you have done to get where you are. Let yourself wait and have something else fill in the rest. Trust is essential too.
Aquarius: What made Jumanji terrifying was that it was always being found. An inert game, letting out faint drumming sounds, was always being thrown away, only to be uncovered or washed up somewhere else. It had the ability to wait before it was opened and wreaked its havoc. Some lessons that seem completed are only dormant. Don’t lament at the hidden being uncovered; be glad you are given another opportunity to grow.
Pisces: It is said that Athena sprang from her father’s head. What must it be like, not to be born but just to be made? Matching her conception from the brain, she is known as the goddess of wisdom and craft as well as war. I find this odd: Demeter with her power of plants and Hephaestus with his iron forging are also wise. Is intelligence only recognized in concert with a certain sort of action? Find the wisdom in yourself that is not about attack or victory. What else could it be about then?
