The most amazing thing about kandi is that the concept belongs to everyone. Anyone can go to the store buy beads make it. Wear it, share it or sell it. It's an open source of endless styles and methods of construction.
But I am against people selling marked up kandi singles as luxury accessories. It's just gross.
I was taught to make kandi over a decade ago with my ex boyfriend who took me to my first rave. I fell in love with raving because I never a day in my life have the freedom to be myself because of how abusive my family is.
Through all the hard years when I couldn't afford nice clothing and fashion. I always went back to the store bought pony beads and made kandi.
I started to get into bigger pieces when I got my first cuff from a friend of mine. I wanted to return the favor so I got on YouTube to learn how to make cuffs. She is honestly the person who inspired me to keep making more.
I've traded and given away so many pieces over the years. I love people's smiles, I love how happy they are. I love the memories we created together. Kandi represents all of that beauty.
Beauty that everyone deserves. You meet so many people who find sanctuary inside raving and making kandi because they want to escape this harsh reality. Because capitalism and stress are crushing us. So we started creating our own spaces with our own way of expression. You can't really put a price on that.
Kandi hasn't always exactly been the trendiest and so many people have put me down over the years for my choice in fashion. I've been called childish, cheap and trashy for wearing kandi. Now that has been a staple of alternative culture as well. There are cultural vultures who want to profit from these trends.
Please do not gives these people your money.
Please help out creators who have small stores who really need your business not a jeweler who sells gold bracelets that are as much as a down-payment on a car. I see so many talented people out there who make amazing kandi.
Kandi is a huge representation of plur (peace love unity and respect)
So its really important that we support eachother.
The rave scene is originally a plur space mean its a safe space regardless of; race, gender, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status etc. (Also age but there are some space children aren't allowed into for obvious reasons.)
Not to mention the thousand of hours put into making events. The millions of hours producers spend in studios and touring to make the rave scene even possible.
All of our art is so interconnecting and that is what makes it so valid.
Remember nothing is revolutionary unless its accessible to everyone. Kandi is that little cultural revolution that has always been a big fuck you to normal standards.
Time to go be cringe at the grocery store 🌈🛸

Guess who's made even more kandi?
Anyways, let's get on with it!
This one was really fun! I'd seen the flower and ball pit ball chains, and figured I'd try making something a little more "me"! So, here's a little rainbow ghost chain! Oh, and I've now got a kandipatterns account under the same name as my blog if you wanna friend me! (I've only got two patterns right now, the little ghost and knife charms, but I'm thinking of making some more soon!)
And these are some chokers I made that are my own spin on this one! I did the little ghost one first, before making a second one to fit my hair and usual color palette! (Also, the rainbow cord on these is just, amazing)
And onto the the last one, a small MCR ufo cuff! I've been wanting to try a ufo cuff for a while, and figured I'd finally give it a shot since I had some downtime during lunch today!
So yeah! Just a small update, but I've hit photo limit and I don't have the time right now, so I'll post the other stuff I've made in a bit!
Some fun images from my trip to Tennessee and included pic with my friend (*^ -^*)
