‼️DON’T LISTEN TO KILLUA‼️: Nanika isn’t harmless
Episode 143, Sin x And x Claw, showed the deciding moment where Killua defended Nanika from Illumi and got ahead of his big brother to continue on his route to reach the hospital in time.
He succeeded in passing through his big confrontation with Illumi as well as his needle people, but his way of convincing Illumi about Nanika completely failed.
Many fans would agree that this scene made them feel proud of Killua for protecting Nanika by telling Illumi about how ignorant and wrong he was being about her.
And many, after or even during the chase between these two, even started to wonder why Illumi had such hatred and no mercy for trying to kill one of his younger siblings.
But the better question that we should have all been asking instead was:
Was Illumi the bad guy here?
After all, the only reason why he was trying to stop Killua from saving Gon, was due to Nanika.
Nanika. A being, who we now know, comes from the Dark Continent which is filled with inexplicable and unimaginable horror waiting for you behind the borders of the known world.
No matter how these beings of the unknown world look like, we can confirm that they are all equally deadly and unpleasant creatures roaming in the undiscovered territories that can mercilessly kill you on the spot.
Illumi has a right to be wary and especially fear Nanika.
He also has the right to be careful around Alluka who is essentially Nanika’s private vessel.
Since he acts all skeptical around them both why shouldn't he think about protecting his family?
The Zoldycks are aware that an ancestor of theirs went to the Dark Continent and came back.
That ancestor is named Zigg Zoldyck.
(many would suspect that Maha and Zigg are the same people due to a supposed typo from the HxH guidebook but we’ll call him Zigg)
At the time, the family as well as Zigg, probably haven't noticed that he carried Nanika with him which must’ve passed along from generation to generation until it finally grew a complete consciousness in Alluka’s body.
Later on, when Nanika started to cause problems for everyone, Silva and Zeno eventually pieced the puzzles together and concluded that the entity which resided in Alluka must’ve come from the unknown world.
We can assume this since he says this to Killua when he asks why Alluka is not considered a part of the family.
Illumi would only be more overprotective of his family members if he knew exactly where that thing came from.
But we don't need to think about what he would do if he found out since he was already trying to kill Alluka.
Because every wish comes with a price.
Illumi essentially thought that if Killua made the wish, the people who Killua knew (like his family) may die to make his wish become a reality.
He wasn’t going to take any chances so he immediately scurried after Killua to kill Alluka.
Would that kind of behavior be acceptable if his family was in danger?
After all, Nanika is still an enigma and we have yet to see if she has other concealed rules hidden under her sleeve.
So I’ll ask you again:
Which side would you take?
The big brother who’s hunting down a possible threat to his family or the little brother who’s protecting this threat because he considers it harmless despite not being sure when she’ll make another command?
From this perspective, Killua would be the one who’s in the wrong.
Because at what point did he think Nanika wasn’t the cause of the problem but the one who wishes?
Something doesn’t quite add up here.
Forget about the emotional scene here and think about what he’s saying.
He’s claiming that Nanika, a being who can grant you any wish in existence if you succeed her three requests, is not in the wrong for going after anyone who she knows but it’s the wisher who’s to blame because they managed to fall for her trap.
Let’s not kid ourselves here: Killua’s claim sounds biased because he wants to please Alluka.
In episode 146, Chairman x And x Release, Killua tells Nanika to go away and leave Alluka alone. When Alluka reopens her eyes, she gets up and screams at him for not treating Nanika like a person.
Killua, after just literally telling Nanika to go away a second ago, immediately changes his mind and goes straight to apologizing to Nanika about his behaviour, saying that Illumi got into his head which led him to say these things to Nanika.
(This situation could have worked if it wasn’t for the fact that he quickly changed his whole ideology for Alluka at the last second)
This scene looked like he was doing this more for Alluka rather than for Nanika because now that Illumi is aware of how much Nanika is capable of, he wants to share Nanika meaning he doesn’t seek to kill Alluka anymore but to use her to his advantage.
This is why we cannot claim that Killua apologized for Nanika’s sake.
Now that we’ve got our proof (about Killua sounding biased), we can now analyze what he’s saying about Nanika.
“It is more kind-hearted than anyone else.”
“The ones who are cursed are those who make the wishes!!”
The second line is true.
When a wisher approaches Nanika and engages with her, they are only doing this to gain something out of her while fully knowing the consequences that would follow if they fail even one of her requests.
The first line, however, is false.
It couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Here’s what you need to know about how Nanika works:
1- Nanika calls people by their names while Alluka calls people by nicknames.
2- Nanika can randomly take over Alluka’s body without giving any PHYSICAL hints that she’s present. (you can recognize her by the way she addresses people)
3- Nanika can only give requests if she knows the name of the person.
4- Nanika can give a maximum of four requests.
5- If someone refuses to complete all three requests, she adds a fourth one and kills you off if you still don’t do it (ex: Mitsuba).
6- If someone doesn’t manage to complete all three of her requests, she’ll kill them off and will put the burden onto the next wisher.
7- If you are personally close to Nanika herself (like Killua), you are yourself an exception to her rules and you may give her commands rather than the other way around.
☟︎And the most important one of them all is☟︎:
8- Nanika can randomly give requests to someone she knows the name of even if that person didn’t ask for it.
The last rule is the most crucial one of them all because it completely backfires Killua’s statement.
If Nanika is harmless then how come she gives requests to non-wishers?
What would happen if Nanika kills off a non-wisher who couldn’t manage to complete all three requests?
Would Killua still believe that she’s harmless?
Or will he change his point of view about her?
And even if you say that the weight of the incomplete wishes gets transferred to another individual no matter if they wanted a wish or not, why have those rules in the first place?
Why would Nanika even do this?
Killua has made an incorrect judgment when it came to Nanika.
He is claiming that she is completely in the right and blames the people who use her to be the bad guys when it really isn’t the case.
The thing is, you cannot place Nanika in a good or bad angle.
She is completely neutral which makes her look merciless when it came to her actions.
Humans are attracted to achieving their goals and dreams.
They also have desires so they would certainly get tempted if they learned there was a short way to obtain it.
Killua isn’t any different from them.
Because he just did the same thing.
He doesn’t see the irony in what he’s truly doing since he gets this free pass because he’s personally infatuated with Nanika.
He believes there’s a difference since she likes him.
HxH October day 10: Cards
HunterxHunter Haul (2/3) Yes, I love the Zoldycks (even though others may describe them as a weird bunch). Also, the friendship that Killua, Gon, Kurapika, and Leoriohave! OXGN's (@oxgnfashion ) going to release another batch of designs for their HxH Collab and I can't wait (but I have to, LOL).
Killua is still learning on how to express his emotions / feelings using words
ew, another shitty one-shot instead of updating a chapter like a normal writer lol
Okay but consider: a Tangled! concept where Killua is Rapunzel and Gon is Flynn, and Gothel is Illumi. The crown is actually probably Gon’s, as proof he’s Ging’s kid or something, and Killua just holds it ransom so Gon steals him out of his tower. Illumi, naturally, follows:
Killua: I think he likes me...
Illumi: Likes you? That’s demented. Kill, this is why you never should have left. This whole romance that you’ve invented just proves you’re too naive to be here. Why would he like you? You think that he’s impressed? Don’t be foolish. Come home.
Illumi, showing him the crown: Then go ahead and put him to the test.
Killua: How did you--?
Illumi, tossing him the crown: This is why he’s here, don’t let him deceive you. Give it to him watch and see. Trust me, little brother, that’s how fast he’ll leave you.
And Killua stubbornly brushes that off, or tries to, but it’s a thought in the back of his head constantly.
They find Gon’s city, and Gon is enchanted by Killua (like he wasn’t already) in the city lights and festivities, and the See the Light scene happens. Killua hands the satchel to Gon, apologizes and tells him he just couldn’t give it to him before because he was sure he’d leave him after he did, and Gon just forces him to set the satchel down before he grins and tells him “Killua is my friend! I’d never leave him behind!”
And it’s after they meet Ging that Gon wonders about what he does now, since he’s accomplished what he’s always dreamed of. Killua just tells him that he’ll have to find a new dream and maybe that means being crown prince. Gon is hesitant to agree to that.
Only I imagine that, when Illumi sets it up to look like Gon took the position and abandoned Killua instead of say, enrolling him as a squire or something, Killua really believes it and is heartbroken. Gon is lost in some misunderstanding where Mito and Ging think he wants to take the throne and the surrounding festivities that ensue, but he never said that.
Illumi shows up just in time to catch Killua’s broken form in his hands so he can take him “home”. Killua is telling him you were right, I should have listened. I should have known. Illumi just pats him on the back (”There, there”), and tells him he’d do best to not let it happen again.
But then Gon figures things out once Killua isn’t around for a few hours and puts his foot down, tells Mito and Ging that he has other plans and stubbornly forces his way back to the tower, shows up at Killua’s window. And Killua is hurt and baring his teeth, but Gon won’t let it faze him.
Gon: Killua, I told you that I didn’t know what to do next, after I met my dad. And you told me that I just had to find a new dream. Do you remember?
Killua, through gritted teeth:.... Yes.
Gon: Killua... what if I said...
Gon, offering his hand:.... that you were my new dream?
Killua my beloved little meow meow.

Killua with the side eye
So many interesting dynamics and potential that we will never get to see 😩Hxh had one of the best and most interesting dynamics in anime
And there are still so many mysteries too.Like there are characters that have used only one special attack.
We will never see illumi and hisoka whole potential, we will never confirm where nanika come from, will killua have to go back to his familly one day?
Such a waste... 😕
Alluka and nanika
Hisoka and illumi
The Zoldyck familly
Biscuit and killugon
Killua and gon
Hisoka/gon and illumi/killua
Killua and his dad that said that he was sure that wherever killua go, he will always go back to his familly
“He’d recognize that laugh anywhere.”
the water fountain scene from the slow burn "to the moon and to Saturn” by madeofstarlights on Ao3 or @komacinne, which I thoroughly enjoyed! it features astronomy intern!killua and island boyTM/baker!gon, a lot of a+++++ dialogues/killer lines, killua being a disaster, and a ton of “beautiful paradise island” vibes which I personally am a sucker for
alstroemeria are hard to draw
Some hxhtober days I missed
Art practice dump. Tried to get a hang of watercolours and figure out how i wanna draw the characters. Pretty hit and miss. Killuas hair was an experiment that didn't work. Kite's hair was an experiment that only half worked.
Anyways pushing the freckled Freecss family and pretty Kite agenda.
Dropping him again because of course his redraw didn't turn out as nice and he's probably the best piece tbh. (That ain't saying much)
