I am also noting that everyone calls the PC the Warden-Commander, not the Arl. Makes sense tbh. I think Alistair would normally prefer that, but the impact of him being in that position is not lost on him. People are accustomed to seeing elves as Grey Wardens. Even the hero of the Fourth Blight, Garahel, was an elf. Him being the Warden-Commander and Hero of Ferelden is impactful, of course, but at the same time Wardens are outside the nobility by design. They will never look at a Warden and see one of their own, someone on par with them, because they aren’t.
But, Alistair is an arl, too, and his arling includes what becomes one of the wealthiest cities in Ferelden. He could easily make himself one of the most powerful people in Ferelden if he had the desire, but he doesn’t throw around his weight unless it’s for a worthy cause. He’s really not ambitious. Which anyway brings us to him not only being on par with the nobles but arguably exceeding a good chunk of them. I think to those under his command, especially if they are Wardens, he prefers to be viewed + referred to as Commander. But when it comes to vassals, outsiders, and fellow nobles, he is the Arl.
Which leads to one of the Blight’s effects. During the Blight, he split into Alistair the warden and Alistair the person. After the Blight, there’s further evolution. There’s Alistair the arl (venerable, austere), Alistair the commander (valiant, verging on paternal), and Alistair the person (warm, loving, humorous).

I'm just saying: Gilles absolutely owns a sports car with a Jeanne itasha wrap.
as if gilles ‘went broke as hell entirely thru buying art and thats why only saber has golden rule and still goes broke as hell in fgo canon bc he uses it exclusively for buying art and making jeanne merch’ de rais would not see a jeannu itasha wrap as an important and, in fact, necessary purchase.
“it was a reasonable business expense,” he says as jeanne winds up to deck him. “it’s advertising for the casino and thus helpful!” he claims.
Alex Coughlin is just so beefy!
