Let's talk about some stuff in The Legend of Korra thats criminally overloocked
-The Fandom as a whole really act as if Korra's fight against Zaheer was the one and only thing that led to her mental breakdown. When in reality, the reason or the reasons that made her had that breakdown had being there literally since book 1 and i will die in that hill
Growing up isolated from the world, being reduced to her duty and not treat like an actual person, really was the main source to her breakdown in book 4, the fight against Zaheer was only the last drop in a full glass to make everything go to shit. Because that fight destroy the image she had built until then as Avatar, she was no longer able to do the duty she has been required for since she was born. During all the show this image that she had of herself as the Avatar, is being put to trial and every season there's a moment when she is let with the feeling that she "ain't good enough" and to make things worse, when she begins her journey, she wasn't even her own person. So Korra journey though the show is also a journey about find and connect with herself as a teenager and young woman.
-Since a lot of us watch the show has teenagers back in the day, we were too young to understand feel things, and we weren't able to see how much of predatory Tarrlok was being with Korra, he literally spends the first half of book 1 trying to grooming on her and the other half of the season he actually kidnaps her and all the setting - the specific cell and the way he talked, saying he would take her with him as a hostage even tho that she would only slow him down - is just really creepy.
And because of that, for me he was more of a threat to Korra as a person, a girl, than Amon ever was.
-Korrasami really have a good development. Relationship aren't just make out scenes. Relationship is about connection, love, care, respect, the time we share with each other, the friendship, the trust... And Korrasami had all that
They aren't less just because some of y'all only think as representative, couples that have tons of sexual scenes. Half of those couples the gays put in a pedestal didn't have half of what Korrasami has. Stop to reduce wlw relationship to just sex and stuff alike
When we grow older we learn what is really important in a relationship and Korrasami has all that and also is the perfect rivals to friends to lovers. And to this day is the type of wlw relationship that we need to see more on screen
-Mako and Bolin ain't that bad, especially when you know that they grow up on the streets and raised by criminals. Yes we get mad by the way they acted, Mako with Korra and Asami, and Bolin though the whole s2 but just like Korra, they didn't have a normal childhood
The only one who had a normal childhood was Asami and coincidence or not, she was the only among the four of them that has acting real mature and emotionally responsible, she had her moments of naiveness and vulnerability because she still was a young woman trying to figure her life out but overall she still handled things pretty well
-Zaheer ain't that powerful. It's 2021 guys. He was just fighting against people who never had faced an Airbender before, and when he gets to fight an actual master and badass fighter, he just got his ass beat and/or simply runaway from the fight
