Phenomenal sight from Carn na Leitire in the last rays of sun this afternoon. That’s not smoke; it’s mist rising from the forests south of Loch Ness. Warm air carries the moisture aloft where it dissipates as clouds in the colder air above. There wasn’t a breath of wind to spoil the effect today.

Someone once said “Eternity begins and ends with the ocean’s tides." As a surfer and ocean swimmer, I am deeply connected with this giant interconnected mass of saltwater, it’s as near as I can come to another world. The voice of the sea speaks to my soul. The touch of the sea is sensuous, but the sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. The sea was rough and unrelenting today. Many stay out of her path when she’s this tumultuous and unpredictable. Not me, I and my surfboard simply could not resist her pull. As the great sea explorer Jacques Cousteau once noted, "The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” I had a rewarding day!
