23.06.21// thinking about finding a new coffee shop to try! I've been to all the closest ones so it's time to branch out and go for a longer walk ☕️🌿 IG: flatneedledistillery
Me: “Apologize to the attorney for taking awhile to learn how much supervision or review they want to give cases, because you don’t want being used to micromanagement to come off as ineptitude.”
Also me: “A mediocre white man would never. Don’t apologize; learning individual attorney preferences doesn’t mean you’re still learning your basic job duties.”
Exactly a month till CLAT phew.
I've logged out of all social media except tumblr, and giving my level best yet i feel like I'm not working hard enough...
I'll be giving a mock test now to see if I'll be getting anywhere near my dream college.
And it rained a little today so it was quite a view from my balcony
Also my phone - a potato - is a potato.
23.02.21// we are supporting local this year!! My absolute favourite thing about living close to the city centre is that I have endless local businesses to choose from! So many cute coffee shops, flower shops, bakeries and grocers. My partner and I have made a conscious effort to support local where we can 🌿☕️ IG: flatneedledistillery
Last exam tomorrow.

So, a legal startup asked me to work for them (short term) in exchange of a shoutout on Instagram.
'we have over 35k followers on insta and YouTube and the shoutout will give you ample exposure.'
This month does not go well. Most days I study for 2 hours, I only wrote two cases. Im trying to get better this week. My next exam is in less then one month. I hope I will make it.
I just lost a moot in the semi finals and I'm vv sad about it☹️
But on the brighter side I just have one assignment left and then I can start working towards my externals. My teachers aren't giving me marks on assignments I spend literal weeks on and it's pissing me off, they better give me marks in the externals
22.06.21// getting into it now! My thesis should be fully edited by next weekend. Which is wild. It's come up so quickly! I'm really happy with where things are going with this paper. I'm slowly trying to get into professional work as well! I hope everyone is enjoying their summers, and that everyone is happy and healthy! 💕☕️ IG: flatneedledistillery
Good evening. 🌙✨
I’m Sarah, a genX-Millennial from Australia, law graduate, and postgrad psychology student.
Welcome to my tumblr. ☺️
I’ve climbed aboard the bandwagon a little later than most, but I want to create a space where I can record and share my postgrad experience as a means to inspire and motivate (myself mostly, but if anyone else happens to derive a benefit, well, that’s just a bonus).
I’m still pretty new to psychology, having worked in the private legal sector for the past decade. I decided to make the switch mid-2020, and am currently six months into a bridging degree, studying online for the first time ever (due to current world events, obvs).
I’m currently on a short break before classes resume in just under a week’s time. It therefore seemed like the perfect time to introduce myself. If you’ve somehow managed to stumble across this wee studyblr, then welcome! Make yourself comfortable, and please say hi. 👋
I study mostly from the comfort of my home, or in my garden, or when I’m on the road in my micro-camper. I live in the literal middle of nowhere. A chiweenie named Bram and a dachshund called Duke are my ever-present study buddies.
I can also be found on Instagram, if you are so inclined: sorchasidhe.
Until next time,
I got one of my graded Barbri essays back and the grader took like a page worth of comments to say “lol learn the rules u idiot”
I was finding topics for research paper and I realised that choosing a topic that won't land me in jail or in trouble with the higher ups or in trouble with this society (including my fam) IS SO SO SO HARD.
Why can't a person write a few pages of criticism without being threatened with a f.i.r or without being disowned??
😂when u live in india!!
posted on twitter and sharing here too. cw discussion of slavery, racism:
i think Black and Native students should receive some extra support in property law classes. we have to learn the caselaw that “justifies” genocide against our ancestors. that makes the coursework much more intense than for our settler peers.
the doctrine of Discovery is still rule of law in the USA. it holds that Natives don’t have rights to land bc we only lived on it, that we did not “add value.” this is such a western way of viewing property, but it is the rule of law. adding value is not, apparently, sustaining the eco system — to the US courts, only development, & the often subsequent destruction of nature, truly counts as land use. my prof criticized it, but still: this is functionally more emotional & difficult for Native students to study. this was used as an example in settler countries globally and was used as precedent by “feminist icon” ruth bader ginsburg. when she died, my law school community wrote eulogies like she had done no wrong. i felt so very alone in remembering her racism and anti-Indigenous sentiment.
and I can’t even pick just *one* horrifying doctrine from the Slavery cases we read in property law alone. one that sticks out was State v Mann. in that an enslaved woman was shot by a white man (who was “renting” her), and the state charged him for it. the court found only her owner had a cause of action bc her “property was damaged.” But the woman, Lydia, had none. the criminal charges were dropped, because the court found that a white man “renting” a Black woman had the same right to violence against her as her “owner.”
law school is demoralizing as fuck. but it is fundamentally different for Black students & Native students than for settler students. I wish that had been addressed at all.
I have JUST PASSED MY CIVIL LAW EXAM!! Now I have only 2 exams left next week, and then I'm freakin free.
Plan for the week:
- criminal law revision
- eu law revision
- finally go back to daily yoga exercises
Also, yesterday was my birthday, so some pretty pics from the weekend 🌞🥀
100 days of Productivity (Day Six)
I have completed this day
Has anyone read Becoming by Michelle Obama? It's so wordy I kind of dislike it, and I feel bad because I thought I would really appreciate it.
It's kind of hard to get pass Chapter One
If you have a presentation, I heavily recommend doing a dance break before… if you like dancing of course. I find it very relaxing
