SMALLVILLE | 2.02 - “Heat”
The Man of Steel emerged as a champion of the oppressed, taking down any enemy with his super-strength and speed, both foreign and near to home. In his distinctive royal blue, red and yellow costume, complete with cape, the stalwart Kryptonian emanated strength and fearlessness. He swiftly became a symbol of hope for a downtrodden America.
The relationships between Superman and Lois, Superman and Batman, and Superman and Luthor were reexamined and tweaked for modern readers. Old villains such as Bizarro returned and new ones, such as Magpie, were introduced. It was the dawn of a new age for the Man of Steel that endures today.
Time is collapsing in on itself. The villainous Extant has ushered in a series of black holes that are swallowing the universe—past, present and future! Superman, like everyone else in the DC Universe, has seen time loops affect his life. The result? Krypton never exploded. The Kents never found a baby Kal-El in a field. Superman isn’t the protector of Metropolis. Then, after the crisis in time has been averted, new details about the origins of Superman, Superboy and Steel are revealed.
Brainiac returns to invade Earth with his ultimate weapon, Warworld, a planet-sized satellite built for destruction. With the help of super-powered friends like Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and many more, Superman must lead the attack on Brainiac and protect Earth!
Max Lord has taken over Superman’s mind and has him in total thrall. With his peers and loved ones threatened, Superman is helpless. But not Wonder Woman-who must battle past the Man of Steel and decisively end the threat. Her actions, and their repercussions, are explored here!
This is the Man of Steel as you’ve never seen him before! After moving to Metropolis to start a new life following the loss of his adoptive parents, Clark Kent soon finds that he is more alone than he ever knew. Alone but hopeful, he dons a t-shirt with a giant S and begins his career as one of the greatest heroes this or any other world has ever seen.
Metropolis fears him. The Daily Planet agrees. This new volume of SUPERMAN finds our hero with a startling new status quo. As Superman finds ways to dodge the scrutiny placed upon him by the public and media, he must stop a monstrous threat to Metropolis - one that he somehow is the cause of!
After an extinction-level event that shattered the cosmos, Superman found himself in a world very much like his own, but populated by a new breed of younger, angrier heroes-including a whole new Superman. And when that Superman fell in the line of duty, the original Man of Steel stepped up to take his place.
But at what cost?
No sooner does the legendary hero take to the skies than his greatest enemies emerge to face him, from Metropolis’ self-styled protector Lex Luthor to the engine of death and destruction known as Doomsday. Meanwhile, a person-or being-claiming to be the real Clark Kent is dogging his every move. And back in the fields of Smallville, his wife, Lois, and son, Jonathan, face this strange new world as well.
A new era has dawned. Is the Man of Tomorrow ready to face it?
Rocketed from his dying homeworld as an infant, he became his adopted planet’s greatest champion. Then he and his family—his wife, Lois Lane, and their son, Jonathan Kent—narrowly escaped the destruction of their entire universe.
They emerged on a new Earth, where a younger, brasher breed of superheroes held sway. And when the valiant young Superman of this strangely familiar reality fell in the line of duty, the original Man of Steel stepped out of the shadows to take his place.
Now, in addition to battling threats from around the world and across the universe, Superman must fight to earn the trust of his newly adopted planet’s other protectors—as well as his curious small-town neighbors. Most of all, he must teach young Jonathan how to harness his ever-increasing abilities and wield them in the service of truth and justice—as a child of two worlds, this grandson of Krypton’s potential is rivaled only by the dangers he will face.
The fallout from THE Man of Steel mini-series has Clark Kent looking at the world through new eyes…with new ideas about what Superman could and should do for the city of Metropolis and the planet Earth. His first job? Getting the planet out of the Phantom Zone! The world quakes and shakes as it begins to succumb to the effects of the entire planet being moved into the lifeless realm known as the Phantom Zone. As Superman works with the Justice League, an old enemy trapped in the same prison returns to stop the Man of Steel and escape.

Lex Luthor in Young Justice
They had been fighting crime separately for years but it wasn’t until the historic SUPERMAN #76 in 1952 that Superman, the Man of Steel, finally teamed up with the Caped Crusader himself—Batman. That story proved so popular that the team quickly became the main feature in WORLD’S FINEST COMICS—and thus the greatest partnership in comics was born. Their adventures together would feature heroes and villains such as Robin, Batwoman, Lex Luthor, Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk, as well as more alien threats than might seem possible.
In these stories from the mid-1980s, Superman calls on Batman to help him battle the organized crime family known as Intergang. And as the two super heroes forge their alliance, Superman entrusts Batman with a special weapon: a Kryptonite ring, which the Dark Knight must hide in case the Man of Steel ever loses control of his own other worldly powers!
When the Joker and Lex Luthor team up and trade cities, the Man and Steel and the Dark Knight Detective must follow suit—with Superman heading into Gotham City and Batman becoming the defender of Metropolis!
The iconic super-heroes unite when longtime Superman enemy Lex Luthor, now president of the United States, accuses Superman of a crime against humanity, and assembles a top-secret team of powerhouse heroes to bring Superman in – dead or alive. And in the second story arc, prepare for the arrival of Supergirl! Batman has discovered something strange on the bottom of Gotham Bay, which leads him to a mysterious and powerful teenaged girl bent on destroying Gotham City! What’s her connection to Superman? Why does Wonder Woman want to hide her from the outside world? And will Darkseid succeed in recruiting her into doing his bidding?
Superman and Batman may hold the title of World’s Finest, but Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite are definitely the World’s Funnnest! The two fifth-dimensional troublemakers never fail to bring chaos and magic to the lives of their favorite heroes-but always in the name of fun!
The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel are close friends in the modern day–but the two weren’t always such close allies. Discover how two of the World’s Finest Super Heroes met for the first time in the New 52, and the mysterious adventure that takes them to a whole new world-the world of Earth 2! The heroes of the main DC Universe meet their Earth 2 counterparts for the first time!
The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel uncover a plot by the Toymaster to use a secret, potentially deadly element in his new video game, the characters created by players manifest in real life. The ultimate fighting game results–and a world-wide network of players must team up to create the most powerful, skilled Super Heroes imaginable with one goal: To kill Batman.
When Batman and Superman are corned by the Toymaster and Mongul, they are pitted against on another in a battle to the death, with their only hope being the The Worlds’ Finest.
A microscopic planet so small it can float in a person’s veins. A Doomsday-infected Superman. A time-traveling chaos demon. The onslaught of threats is putting the pressure on the world’s finest. But when a rescue mission goes wrong, both heroes awake as blank slates, all memory erased.
Now Gotham City is faced with a Superman without his moral compass and a Batman without his vendetta. Without the two super heroes to rely on, who remains to remind them who they truly are?
Up in the sky, in the dark of the night, trust no one-for the Secret Six walk among us. Spinning out of the devastating events of The Batman Who Laughs, Superman and Batman are together once more and facing a terrifying new threat that could strike from anywhere. The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel must journey into the depths of Gotham City to learn which of their fellow heroes have become the horrifying horsemen of their most dangerous and deranged foe ever, with Shazam!, Supergirl, and more transformed into their twisted Dark Multiverse reflections. Our heroes will need to fight to survive, but an even more dangerous question lurks in the shadows: Can Superman and Batman even trust each other? The road to Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen and beyond starts here!

September 18th - Mercy
Mercy Graves is the personal assistant, chauffeur, bodyguard and sometime paramour of Lex Luthor. She first appeared in Superman The Animated Series. She started off as the leader of gang of street thieves. She had attempted to steal from Luthor and impressed him with her ruthlessness and street savvy. He offered her a job and it wasn’t long before Mercy became Luthor’s right-hand woman, head of personal security and the person he turned to in order to carry out his dirty work. Mercy was offered control of Lexcorp as its new chief executive officer after Luthor was incarcerated. Mercy would later transition into the DC Comics Universe where she was revealed as an Amazonian mercenary serving as Luthor’s bodyguard. In the updated/Nu52 DC Comics universe, Mercy has been reimagined once again, this more in line with her character as original presented in the Superman animated series. A version of Mercy featured in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice portrayed by actress Tao Okamoto; the character additionally features in the television series Supergirl played by actress and Rhona Mitra; and in The Titans series where she is portrayed by actress Natalie Gumede. Mercy’s first comic book appearance was in Superman Adventures #1 (1990); whereas her first appearance in the mainstream DC Universe was in the pages of Detective Comics #735 (1999).
