Chapter 5
What someone who passed this class was going to teach him that the professor wasn’t was beyond him. Was he not the qualified person to teach said class? Loki has a lot of things humans did that he just couldn’t wrap his head around. If there is one thing Loki learned from staying at the compound is that Tony could never have the skill to be invisible. He could be heard before he was seen. Loki could here Tony talking to who he presumed was the tutor at the end of the hall as they approach the briefing room. An all-glass room to keep more eyes on Loki, as if the female security agent in the room wasn’t enough. “Don’t worry about safety, we have people around, and he’s been told to be on his best behaviour. If you need anything, you can just ask. Here he is, Loki meet … “ “ Zee” “Yes, Zee. This is Loki, your new student.” A girl with what seemed to be nervously shifting on her feet stood next to Tony. Loki’s first though was she seemed young or made herself perceived to appear younger. She was someone who you wouldn’t stand out in a crowed. Not that she was unattractive, but it wasn’t obvious or obnoxiously pushed in your face. She pushed her clear framed glasses up the bridge of her nose. She had her hand extended awkwardly towards Loki. With a smile, she subtracted her arm and sat down next to him. All Loki could do was sit there. He couldn’t get himself to look at her. “I’ll let you guys get right to it. Meg, make sure he’s a good boy. Just ring me if he misbehaves.” Tony gave a last thumbs up and left.
“Uhm, so where would you like to start?” Loki frowned, she’s not from here. Loki has heard what some people sound like around the world, but he’s not heard her accent before. She took some papers from her bag, and placed them on the table, before hissing out a quiet ‘ow’ while banging her elbow on the table trying to reach for more things from her bag. “On the phone Mr. Stark said you needed some help with your English Literature class. I have –“ “Why are you here?” “Well, I got a call to say that you needed some help.” "How do I know that you are even able to help me? Did they tell you who I am, and you thought maybe this could be your opportunity to meet the God of Mischief?" "No, they didn't until I got here. I came because that's what I do. I have a degree in Education, and I tutor to make a living, if that's what you wanted to know. Besides I've been helping the people who take that class for a while now." She wasn't nervous anymore, definitely a little defensive. "I don't need your help, especially from your kind." She sat silently, eyebrows slightly down and closer together as if she was thinking of what to say next. "If you didn't need my help, then I don't think Mr. Stark would have called, and my kind? As far as I remember you're the one that wanted to take over the world and killed people of my kind. I don't know what you expected and I'm sorry if it wasn't me, but I didn't do anything to you. I came to help and all you're doing is belittling me." Silence again. Her cheeks shining slightly pink from the afterglow of her little outburst. She looked directly into Loki's eyes, waiting for him to say something. A small mischievous grin started to form on his face." Are you less nervous and afraid now?" Loki started chuckling at the confused expression now making its way onto her face. "The minute you walked in here I could tell you were nervous and slightly afraid. Your shaking hand confirmed what I already knew. How would you have helped me if you were afraid of me?” All she did was stare at Loki. It was clear she didn’t know how to respond. Still with some defence in her voice, she asked “Do you still need my help or not?”
