Honestly I think we don't dislike tragedies we just hate how mainstream media writes them
Watched Midsommar yesterday. It was definitely... something.
Something traumatic for sure
I heard someone called Dani from Midsommer a final girl and I just think that’s completely missing the point. She didn’t survive the Hårga in the end, she was brainwashed and groomed into becoming one of them. We see them carry her off so she didn’t get away and return to normal life, either they kill her or she becomes part of the cult. Idk just some thoughts
Will Poulter in Midsommar (2019)
“Even I find Midsommar disturbing and I was in it.”
No disrespect but if I was the old guy from midsommar I wouldnt have jumped like that. Go head first silly
florence pugh wearing masks 😷💞
I just watched Midsommar for the first time and it was such a bizarre experience of “I’m not scared or frightened however I am disturbed and wildly uncomfortable” and “wow this is so visually stunning”
Like I don’t think I would ever watch this movie again, but it’s visuals are so entirely different from what you usually get from a horror. It’s incredibly vibrant, saturated, and over exposed. It’s so bright, it’s almost overwhelming and it’s creepy
But the content is graphic, disturbing, triggering, I knew what was coming based on the set up but was still almost shocked when it happened. It felt incredibly predictable for cult psychological horror, yet I left feeling so much more unsettled than I usually do
I don’t know if I’d actually recommend watching this movie because I have never been so viscerally uncomfortable watching something, but also I couldn’t look away
So we can just all agree that Christian was raped?? and what happened to him wasn’t like quote-on-quote “girl boss revenge” right???
he literally got drugged and was lured into a hut where he would proceed to be RAPED under the influence?? no one deserves that even if they were a major dickwad to their partner
“I'm gonna do my thesis here. If you're going to do it here too, I'm open to collaborating. And if not, I guess we can both do separate theses on the Hargas.”
watching midsommar.... this feels like a movie designed specifically for people to make youtube videos explaining it and pointing out every bit of heavy-handed foreshadowing
🎶she’s a killer queen, gunpowder, gelatine, dynamite with a laser beam, guaranteed to blow your mind🎶
So. I just watched Midsommar.
I'm not gonna lie, and I don't care if this pisses off some fans... It totally lost me at the end. Same with my mother.
We were HOWLING with laughter during the last 20 minutes. Never has a movie worked SO WELL all the way through until the last 20 what-the-ever-loving-fuck minutes.
I couldn't take it seriously anymore. I really couldn't. And that's a real shame cause it was working SO WELL. Just the right amount of disbelief and that building feeling of dread and unnerviness.
And then it turned into Nicolas Cage in the bear suit from The Wickerman remake.
Work in progress plush. Test head for Midsommar boyfriend bear in baby toy style.
I need to take a nap after I finish watching the director’s cut of Midsommar. Can’t fucking deal with this movie right now.
Will Poulter had the best lines in Midsommar. If the director’s cut added anything, it’s funnier lines for Will Poulter.
