Some more concepts I did while working on their story! Tao and Red getting to know each other while she works for the DBK family.
Sheesh he is a sussy baka
I seem to keep on finding stuff and then end up in a rabbit hole of interest in it, and then it rapidly expands to take over my life….
Sorry not sorry xd

It had been months since the breaking wheel. And since Lady Bone Demon’s final defeat. Macaque’s health still struggled, but there was no doubt he was getting better. Wukong and Mk have been trying to keep him happy, healing, and safe… and they’ve been given an offer to help Macaque. Should he choose to accept it.
"Easy now, Macaque... one step at a time..."
It had been three months since he was tortured.
"That's it... good! Good! Gentle now..."
Two months since Lady Bone Demon croaked.
"Don't forget, make sure you're balanced on your front foot before you take another step."
One month since the doctor determined his bones had finally healed enough to start physical therapy.
"I know it sounds basic, but remember - your body forgot how to walk. You need to teach your body to walk again."
A few days since he could walk short distances like this without holding onto something.
He managed to keep his balance the whole way across the room, and he didn't stumble at the last moment this time. He let the nurse take him in her arms, and she carefully handed him his crutches back and made sure he was balanced before letting go.
"Incredible! You're making so much progress!" She congratulated him.
A little shaky from the effort, he simply nodded. He happily leaned against his crutches as he hopped across the room, taking a moment to sit on his bed and check his phone.
Wukong had texted him.
>'Babe, I am so sorry! But we're going to be a bit late. The food we ordered for tonight is taking forever to come out, and honestly I'm legally not allowed to be mad - the restaurant was understaffed!'
<'It's alright, love. Keep me updated, okay?'
>'Of course! Did everything go right at physical therapy?'
<'Yeah, actually. Managed to keep balanced the entire time!'
Wukong responded with some party popper emojis before sending his next text.
>'Oh, thank Buddha !! I've been so so so so worried ! That has got to be relieving for you, too'
<'Yeah, actually. I know that ... my disability is nothing to be ashamed of. And it's definitely not my fault. But I was hoping I'd still at least be able to walk, even if just for short distances.'
Macaque couldn't think of anything to say back, so he sat there silently staring at the screen. Wukong noticed, and he started playing one of those texting games with him.
They were playing a close game of pool when Wukong texted him:
>'Our food just got ready!! See you in a bit!!'
<'See you in a bit! ILY'
>'*I love you more!'
<'well then ILYEM'
>'*I love you even more? Really? One upping me?'
<'Fuck you - I love you Bitch'
<'Aint ever gonna stop loving you, BITCH'
<'wyd still texting me? get yo damn food'
Macaque chuckled, then put his phone down and decided to lie down.
"Taking a nap?" The nurse asked.
"Mhm. Wake me up when my boyfriend and our kid get here?"
"Of course. I'll turn the lights down."
He closed his eyes, thinking he was just going to stare at the back of his eyelids for about 20 minutes.
Nope, he fell asleep. And he was so, so happy that he knew he was dreaming.
Because his subconscious flung him right into a nightmare.
He could barely remember what the 'backstory' was, nor could he see All he knew was he was in incredible pain. The smell of blood rusting iron. His limbs being stretched and twisted like jelly.
Oh come on... couldn't go a few hours without this one?!
He desperately tried to get himself to wake up on his own. Fuck this shit, he didn't need his trauma freshened up before having dinner with his family. So wake up! Wake the FUCK up, Macaque!
He kept trying, trying to thrash his limbs around in the real world long enough that someone caught on that he did not want to be asleep anymore. But his body felt heavy and stubbornly laid there.
"Macaque?" He heard Wukong in the real world.
Yes! Good! Wake me up!
He smelled his fresh peachy tang as he leaned over him, and felt his rough calloused hands start to gently shake him awake.
And that was the ticket.
His brain swept the dream off stage and finally allowed him to open his eyes.
"Good... good..." Macaque mumbled, "Awake now. Hate it when body and mind want to stay asleep during a nightmare."
"Nightmare?" Wukong breathed in sharply.
"Just the routine one, nothing new. My consciousness knew what was going on, and I tried to snap myself awake."
Wukong didn't look any less worried.
"Seriously, it's something that can be handled with therapy and care. Besides... your smell and touch were what drew me out..." Macaque assured him.
"You're saying I'm your anti-nightmare tool?"
"If you'll let me use you like that, my sweet Peach Dumpling."
Wukong chuckled, then wrapped around to his side of the bed to plug in his phone.
"Mk is in our dining area setting up the food. It's unfortunate timing that Bajie ended up with a nasty cold. Well for him - he always insists on cooking for us while I’m more worried about just getting food down our throats - but we found something really tasty."
"I look forward to it."
Wukong nodded, pressing a quick kiss to his lips before awkwardly turning away.
"Is there something you're not telling me, love?"
"More like... something I'm not sure how to tell you. I'm not trying to keep secrets it's... just... unusual."
"I'll trust you. Do you want to talk during dinner?"
"After might be better, but we can do it at the table when we’re done. Mk's been helping me try to find the right words for this."
He let Wukong support him out of the room and to the dining area.
MK beamed at him from the table, otherwise hungrily eyeing the very nice looking take out.
“Oo, you got the exotic stuff. Italian, nice.”
“I can already feel so many racist Americans’ blood curdling at the thought that Italian food is exotic.”
“But it is! Here in China, just the ordinary burgers and fries is exotic!”
“Y’know,” Mk added, “Let their blood curdle. Had one of them try to yell at me on social media today, about how I was purposely dehumanizing myself by- wait for it… referring to myself as the Monkie Kid even though I was using the Monkey King’s powers.”
“Yikes!” Macaque winced in sympathy.
“So I take it going viral from the Lady Bone Demon fight is really attracting all kinds of attention?” Wukong asked.
“Ugh, yeah. As you already know, the popular TikTok user filmed me defeating her, and it went VIRAL. It only got worse when people found my public accounts, where I had posted like… three selfies. In the past three years. That’s just one a year!”
“Don’t listen to them. I’ve had my times where I was wildly popular and unpopular at the same time,” Wukong started, “Don’t get me wrong, my personal issues made it worse, but even without them… yeah. My ‘year’ in heaven sucked. People either loved me to death, or they hated me and just wanted me to go and die. When I ignorantly tried to stake my place among them, instead of being taken seriously even if it meant they were going to shoot me down, they just kept treating me like scum.”
Wukong rolled his eyes, then gave Mk a loving smile, “So don’t worry, we’re kindred spirits. If you need a break from all the chaos, just let me know. We can turn our WiFi off, retreat up into the mountains, and take a camping trip!”
“Thanks, Baba,” Mk smiled.
“Oh, so he’s now Baba? Then what am I?”
“Uh, isn’t it obvious? Fuqin! Duh!”
“I get the more formal one?”
“You get the more respectful one,” Mk snickered, “Baba here can just be the casual one.”
“I’d complain, but casual suits me,” Wukong yawned, “And I’m all for being respectful towards you… you know that right, Fuqin?”
“Okay then, Baba. Whatever floats your goat.”
“Goat?” Wukong questioned.
“Mei showed me a picture of a goat in an inner tube floating in a pool, and it was captioned ‘Whatever floats your goat’. Now it’s stuck in my head.”
“Oh! That one!” Mk said eagerly, “I love that one! Me and Mei text it back and forth to each other all the time!”
“Well, I guess your Fuqin is now in the loop, huh?” Macaque chuckled as he let Mk show him the very picture he described earlier.
“Speaking of Fuqin being brought into the loop…” Wukong exhaled, starting to gather up the trash and leftover plastic ware they could use later, “Give me a minute. Then let’s talk.”
Oh gods, please don’t break up with him. Please please please don’t let this be a ‘I’m gonna divorce you’ conversation. They weren’t even married yet, but pl ease…
“Macaque…” Wukong started.
“Guanying and I… have been talking.”
“She… senses things. On the horizon. Bad, dangerous things.”
Macaque tensed up. Don’t let this be a ‘so I’m breaking up with you so I can fight the monster without anything to lose’…
“So… she wants to heal you.”
“Completely,” Wukong continued, “You might already know, but Guanyin’s healing spring in Heaven is powerful. It’s only for her use and her use only. Because if everyone rushed in to partake in the fount, the universe’s balance would be overthrown. So she keeps it from selfish users, and from those who’s personal journey’s sadly require enduring their hardship.”
Mk added, “But… she’s checked her balances. You could… be healed by her. Completely, like Baba said. But… it’s a decision that has to be left completely up to you. She said that challenges are important in one’s lives, and if you wanted to overcome the challenge your own way then we should let you.”
“The main driving force behind the decision,” Wukong added, “Is that your injuries were not natural occurrences of fate, even in the grand scheme of balancing enemies. There would be no consequence in you being healed.”
Macaque’s heart skipped several beats.
He could be healed.
All the way.
All his powers would return, his body would be fighting fit… he could be whole again!
But it was like Guanying said. Challenges are important.
But she also said that this challenge should have never happened.
“Y’know,” Macaque tried to alleviate the mood, “I was worried you were going to break up with me or something, Peaches,” He chuckled, then cleared his throat, “But I guess… I guess not.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not leaving you anytime… ever.”
He let Wukong kiss him again.
“I’ll take her up on her offer, then. I’ll let her heal me.”
If you are a little girl with straight black hair, you will most likely be a very good villain in the world of Lego.
Plus; you are a ghost.
When it was confirmed that Red Son is non binary and uses any pronouns I finally knew it.
I knew how it feels to see a character you love and say "wow, they're just like me!!"
...sometimes I think about my headcanon of Wukong being scared of dogs- and how MK and the others would react to it
Currently imagining a scene where like. Everyone works together in order to lift the staff/Wukong gives everyone a portion of his powers just before he turns to stone-
Legos officially have better LGBT rep than Disney and Marvel
...maybe it's for the better that I typically don't have Wi-Fi past 11:50 pm, it's currently 12:28 am and I'm thinking of Macaque and Wukong singing lullabies for the others and each other-
NEW POKE PIECE WITH HE/THEY ICON MK!
Didn’t feel like shading lol
...how long do you think it'd take MK and the others to pick up on Wukong's Nervous Smile/Lying Face
