My goal for this autumn is to add some more uni coloured maxi skirts to my wardrobe. The white skirt from my last post already counted towards that.
This pale green one with gorgeus machine embroidery is another candidate. The fabric had the embroidery on both borders, so I decided on two wide tiers to include all the embroidery. The second tier has more seams in the back as I pieced the fabric together there. Obviously I included pockets too!
In full body shots the embroidery is lost sadly but that's to be expected. It's a beautiful detail once your close to me.
I wanted a long white skirt for layering purposes and remembered the white skirt I bought as a teenager and didn't give away yet because.. reasons. It's 100% cotton and a kind of muslin fabric. The "it's late at night but I want a before picture" shows that it still fit me but wasn't really flattering. Plus I tend to go for even more voluminous skirts nowadays. So I decided to add a decorative front lace panel to resize/upsize the skirt and give it some extra flair and volume at the same time. Arranging all the lace was fun!! I also cut out the old underskirt and added a more voluminous one instead (yes there's a theme here).
Now I have a gorgeus long white skirt for layering that I didn't have to start from scratch and gave an old skirt new life. I might add placket pockets later on.
For the first wear I went with a simple coord to let the skirt shine. It pairs well with my white flower vest!
Hello my name (real name) is Lady Newt Araviin the Autumn Fae Maiden!
I identify as High Fae/Fairy, I’m not like other Folklore fairies, I am “life size” Fae not a small pixie. People mistaken me as a pixie but I ashore you we are not the same.
I have the ability to shapeshift in to forest critters that suits my needs such as in battle; a grizzly bear or lone wolf, if I feel the need to save a wondering lost children or adult I am a stage or a rabbit. I suit the needs of others as well.
Ghouls and Democratic life and Dark magic are my enemies!
Nymphs and Goblins are my friends.
Shapeshifters (were*animals*) are close friends.
Pixies are well pixies haha.
But most of all I don’t understand humans, they are strange and unusual…
Elves well take your pick.
Other mystical life and critters coexist with me and the others… some are good and some are evil even angels and demons live with us… The angels you don’t see much of nor the demons about all of them happened long ago… story for another time… but humans are the much fragile ones they have no magic, no powers, we protect them, at all cost even if they don’t know that we truly exist.
I have other powers too, super strength, Autumn blue Flames, and the ability smell sense, emotional changes, I can what I call Evaporate or Jump from places to place. I have fangs but I only use them with angry, I can also, fly with my wings, but Alas they were cut long ago… I am wingless… 😞
i want a dark mori / goblincore / strega style / vulture culture type discord and since i can't find one, i might have to just make one. but it feels really sad to make a discord and have no one show up, so...
is anyone interested? it'd be for sharing pics, encouraging each other on projects, wardrobe swaps, stuff like that.
I really like gilets, but still they're sadly not very prevalent in my wardrobe. Yet.
A couple of years ago I used this simplicity pattern to make myself a gilet for a wedding with a traditional dress code. I had to alter the pattern a lot so it fit me, but it ended up being too loose in the process. I rarely wear that first gilet for that reason, even though I used beautiful fabric.
Years later I was considering an outfit for a j- fashion meetup and wanted to wear my mint green skirt (with beautiful eyelet lace embroidery!) together with this gilet made from grape themed fabric. Then I realised "oh wait that gilet only exists in my head and is only fabric so far". Time to make it a reality!
This time around the pattern alterations went way smoother. I guess I skilled up in the meantime. I did a white cotton mockup to do my alterations on and reused it as a lining for my grape themed fabric.
The matching pastel green lace came from a decoration store for 50 cent (was heavily discounted because the holder was broken). The yellow creme lace came from the one and only Textil Müller! (Notorious fabric shop here. Btw the mint green eyelet embroidery fabric was also bought at Textil Müller.)
I'm so happy with my new gilet & can't wait to sew many more!! I also plan to switch up the pattern a bit & draft some collars to go with it. I think my next sewing project will be a skirt though - probably.
anyway i started thinking about yama girl kei and while it’s cute and all it’s more suited for the milder climate and shorter distances of japan and wouldn’t really hold up as well for hiking in the scandinavian mountains
for that you use its more hardcore cousin, fjällstinta kei
#just saw a picture of yama girl fashion #and mentally translated it to fjällstinta #kinda like how i like mori girl kei but while that is an imagening of how you'd look if you're from a forest #my usual clothes is how you look if you're actually from the forest #i call it tajgastinta
