*Within the temple of envy, Lilith was trying to fight off Sadistic Sam a while after he had gotten new powers*
Lilith, after dodging his swings and slashes from his blade: This is where your story ends Samuel! Countless spirits shall finally rest from your destruction!!
Sadistic Sam, as his eyes glowed green: And what of the spirits of your victims...~? *Before she could even react, Sadistic Sam had punched her straight in the gut which had sent her flying towards a wall.*
Sadistic Sam, after walking up to Lilith and grabbing her by the head: Look into my eyes...~*After being forced to do so, Lilith then finds herself at the castle's bridge*
Lilith, while very confused: What? Why am I here-?! *She was then socked in the face by an enraged Eda, who had murder in her eyes* Eda?? What was that for-??
Eda, while glaring at her sister: Are you really asking that after what you've just did?!?!?! You killed Luz in cold blood!!! *Lilith was at first confused until she turned to see the body...She wanted to throw up at the sight, but something wouldn't let her...So much blood had covered Luz's punctured corpse* It's bad enough that you cursed me but now this?!?!...You're not my sister anymore...
*Those five words had hurted for so long, she almost hadn't realized that more alternate timelines were playing right in front of her...She began to see more and more deaths of the many people who she was close to...all caused by her, every timeline showed how much blood was on her hands...She felt the pain of her sins everywhere at once, it felt like she was set on fire yet no one came to save her from the pain*
Sadistic Sam, as his voice began echoing in her head: It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault, It's all your fault~...
*She was suddenly shaken awake by Helen, who looked incredibly worried for her*
Helen, after hugging her tight: Oh thank the gods you're alright!!...Luz found you curled up into a ball, while your eyes were glowing green for a strange reason...Samuel had unfortunately gotten away...
Lilith, while holding her stomach: I...I need to throw up...Hrrk!! *While she was busy vomiting, Helen had noticed that Lilith's eyes were red and stained from crying for so long...she must've accidentally looked into the eyes and had paid the consequences by being forced to see her sins*
Helen, while comforting Lilith after she was done spilling out her lunch: It's going to be okay, your sins don't define you as a person. We'll find a way to save your sister soon, I promise...
Lilith, while embracing the hug: Thank you...Thank you so much....

“Not if ya do it right.” The preteen had to tease the fluffier speedster. While having Eggman catch them in the middle of a howl, it had to be unnerving to have not one but multiple voices joining at once around him as it happened….
But Harmony liked the way this Sonic thought. Her tail wagged, her mouth spread in a mischievous grin and her emerald eyes shined in a way the hero had to be able to guess what was coming next. “Whatcha waitin’ fer then. ‘s a Full Moon and we’d be wasting it if we didn’t.”
Without wasting any more time, a breath was taken in and with all the might she could muster for the moment went into letting loose a howl though could have made the legendary wolfman join in.

Leo moved through the store quickly, automatically, tossing items into the basket. He was worried Aiden might start to feel uncomfortable about his offer and slip away. The kid needed a decent hot meal and at least one good night’s sleep and even then Leo wasn’t sure he could knowingly send him away. Where would Aiden even go? He tried not to think about it and focus on just helping in whatever way he could for now.
He decided tacos would be a safe bet. Everyone liked tacos. He had them at least twice a week himself, sometimes more. They’d stopped at the store closest to his house so he knew where everything was. The store was mostly empty, people would be staying off the roads that only got icier as the temperatures dropped. If there was any snow tonight he probably wouldn’t be able to get to work tomorrow. They’d be delayed but everyone else’s timelines would have been pushed back anyway, so it didn’t really matter.
At the checkout, it became apparent Leo hadn’t ever stopped ruminating about the boy in his van. Almost every item was different than usual. Instead of plain Eggos, he’d gotten chocolate chip. Not just tortilla chips but Doritos. Cocoa Krispies. A bag of fresh oranges in place of a carton of juice. Goddamn mini marshmallows for fuck’s sake. It was more than a little embarrassing. What was he trying to accomplish? The kid could barely keep down garlic bread and it would take a lot more than sugar to get him to open up. Leo double back and added saltines, ginger ale, and apple sauce. What else had his mom fed him when he was sick? Now he had twice the amount of food like Aiden was staying for the week. He doubted he could even get Aiden to stay for one night, let alone more. Aiden seemed as terrified of Leo as everything else. It would be a miracle if he was even still in the van.
Well over budget with so much food, Leo had to buy two new reusable bags at the register to join the ones he’d carried in. Snow had started falling again after all and the sounds outside traveled differently. He didn’t think anything of the rowdy voices echoing in the winter air. He’d seen the group earlier, a handful of young men, over by one of the snowbanks, lobbing snowballs at each other and drinking, a few bags of chips abandoned on the hood of a nearby car. Except they weren’t in the same corner now. The realization made him quicken his step. What if Aiden had decided to leave and crossed their path?
Leo wound between cars to get a line of sight on the van faster. When did everyone start driving such massive SUVs and trucks? Why had he parked so far away? His stomach dropped when he finally got a good angle and saw through the driver’s side window that the passenger seat was empty. Now he was sure the voices were coming from the other side of the van.
“Hey!” he called, just a few cars down but it didn’t interrupt the noise. He dropped the bags as he cleared the last car and rounded the back of the van.
There were a few guys, bottles in hand, all laughing and talking shit. Leo couldn’t begin to distinguish their words because two of them were dragging Aiden out from underneath the van by his ankles while he struggled to get away. They didn’t notice Leo until he had swung at the third, cracking him across the jaw with a decent cross. He stumbled away from Leo and dropped his beer which shattered despite the layer of slush on top of the pavement. The other two let go of Aiden and made to run but Leo grabbed one of them by the shoulder and shoved him into the other. They fell on top of each other, scrambling to regain their footing in the slippery, wet snow. Leo pulled one up by the front of his jacket. His nose crunched audibly under Leo’s fist. His blood stained the slush red. Leo dropped him and went for the other who was trying to crawl away.
“Hey, man! We were just messing around,” he sniveled. He looked young, they all did, college-age but maybe not old enough to buy their own beer. “Thought we’d put him in his place, you know, just harmless fun. You’re the one breaking the law!”
Leo hit that one twice. Tossed him onto the other. The first had already cleared off and the others quickly followed. Leo made sure they kept running while he took a few deep breaths and wiped his knuckles with a bandana from his pocket. Then he turned around.
Aiden was fully back under the van, cowering, protecting his head and face with his arms but watching Leo.
Leo got onto his knees to get a better look. “Hey, you good?”
Aiden didn’t answer, didn’t even seem to blink or breathe. It looked like there was blood on his face.
“It’s alright, they’re gone now. Fuckers. You can come out.” Leo reached toward the boy.
Aiden shrank back with a whine. Leo saw his nose was bleeding and he had a deep cut running down one cheek.
“I’m sorry they hurt you, no one’s going hurt you now. Please come out so I can help you. You must be freezing.” Leo moved closer and Aiden didn’t move. “Come on, Hon.”
It took ten more minutes of Leo sweet-talking and eventually some cajoling with the mini marshmallows to get him to crawl out. When Leo started to take Aiden’s hands to help him up, he thought he was going to lose him all over again with the way he flattened to the ground. The fingers on Aiden’s left hand were swelling. There was a horizontal welt running between the first and second knuckles. Leo ground his teeth together. He wished he could turn around and chase the assholes down and fuck them up just a little more.
“Hey, it’s okay. It’s okay. I see it, alright? I’m not gonna touch it.” Leo lifted Aiden by his elbows instead and helped him into the van. He carefully wrapped him up in all the blankets, which luckily had stayed in the van and weren’t wet. Aiden was shivering so hard his teeth were chattering.
Leo collected the groceries and loaded them into the space between them on the bench seat and floor.
Aiden watched, still not quite blinking or breathing steadily.
He turned the key and put the heat on full blast. “I think you might need stitches on that cheek and we can get your hand x-rayed. The hospital’s not far.”
The sound that came out of Aiden’s chest was something Leo had never heard before. A cry if your windpipe was tied in a knot. A scream if your lungs were being pressed.
Aiden started shaking his head. “No…mmm…please…mmm’good…please…please…Nnnn—” He dissolved into sobs and slid off the seat in his bundle of blankets, cramming himself under the glovebox.
Leo swore under his breath. It had been a gut reaction to assume they’d go to the ER. He’d forgotten that the kid must have already been to hell and back in hospitals. “No, okay. No hospital. No hospital.”
Aiden continued to cry, quieter now, except for a little whine every time his shivering rippled through his chest.
It was breaking Leo’s heart. He swore he could actually feel it causing him physical pain to see this boy, cowering, shivering, and crying on the floor of his van. Cradling his broken hand, his nose still slowly dripping blood, and his cheek bleeding freely, seemingly unable to look away from Leo. He reached over without thinking and Aiden flinched but, with nowhere to go, Leo’s hand found his undamaged cheek.
Aiden’s next sob was a chattering shudder as he leaned into Leo’s touch.
He rubbed his thumb against Aiden’s temple, finding the skin rougher than it should be either from the bitter cold or his ill-health. God, everything about this kid was heartbreaking.
“It’s all good. You’re good. You’re safe. I’m going to take you home, okay? I’m going to take care of you. It’s all good.”
Leo waited until Aiden’s eyes were a little clearer and his breathing had evened out, then he helped him back up onto the seat and fastened the seatbelt over all the blankets. He patted Aiden gently on the knee before starting to drive.
Leo hid his shaky exhale in the rev of the engine. Aiden was staring straight out the windshield again and didn’t see when Leo rubbed away some of his own tears. Fuck, what had he gotten himself into? There was no turning back. Leo could see that now, even if he didn’t know what on earth to do next.
He helped Aiden into the house first and settled him on the couch while he went back for the groceries. It wasn’t until he was standing outside alone again that he remembered what the fucker in the parking lot had said. Breaking the law? Leo looked up at the bright windows of the front of his condo, even though he was sure Aiden was frozen in place. Literally and figuratively. His fingers flew across the screen to do a few quick Google searches. “Escaped Prisoner” and “Missing Patient” brought up no current headlines. “Runaway” had more recent results but scrolling through the notices, none of them were even close to matching Aiden. He buried his phone in his pocket. Probably the asshole was just running his mouth.
Inside, it looked like the kid hadn’t moved a muscle, except of course for his shivering. Leo put all the cold groceries away and left the rest on the island for later.
When Leo kneeled in front of him, Aiden rounded his shoulders more and ducked his head.
Leo didn’t understand what he’d done to make Aiden afraid again. “Hey, it’s okay. We’re good, right? I just need to take a look at your fingers.”
Aiden pressed himself into the back of the couch. “Nhhh…mmm…good…mmm…please…no…”
“I promise I won’t touch them,” Leo said, holding his hands up. “I just need to make sure you can still move all of your fingers, okay? Can you show me?”
Aiden chewed his lip, searching Leo’s face for a moment, before bringing it out from inside the blankets. Aiden’s eyes never moved as he slowly bent and extended his fingers, like he didn’t even care to see the condition of his own hand. He was only worried about what Leo might do.
Leo hated it, he felt sick with shame. Maybe the kid was just afraid after watching him beat up those assholes, he supposed it had been a little hot-tempered.
He made sure to make his voice gentle and low. “Okay, okay. That’s good. We might need to ice that later…”
Leo put his hand on Aiden’s knee under the blankets and Aiden bit his lips together. Leo wasn’t sure if that was a good reaction or a bad reaction. He just wanted to show Aiden he didn’t need to be afraid, especially considering there was no way the kid could do this next part independently.
He smiled what he hoped was a reassuring smile. “First things first, you need a warm bath.”

@queen-with-the-quill i'm thinking about this song with our girls again, and i'm an emotional mess rn
just that little pause when they recognize each other before rushing into a tight hug, because Everlasting it's the first time they've gone through one of the strange trips without each other, and they just need the confirmation that the other is there, and they're not alone, and Hestia's crying because she thought she lost Jubilee, and Jubilee's just clinging to her because she needs that confirmation of "home" and that Hestia's real.
Is anyone else thinking about the smp multiverse or is it just me
