One day you will heal in such a way that you’d be so glad you chose to stay. Every morning you’ll wake up with the feeling that something good is about to happen to you each and every day. The light coming from the sun won’t be too bright for your once too tired eyes, and the taste of your coffee will remind you that you’re kind of like magic. You’ll learn how to appreciate the simple things in life, like dancing in the kitchen, singing along to a happy song, and loving all the people who inspire you to be strong. You’ll smile at all your mistakes and failures in the past and forgive yourself for the choices you made, especially the ones that are wrong. One day you will heal in such a way that you’d be so glad you chose to stay. Because things will feel simpler and the problems you’ll be facing will be much gentler from all the pain you experienced that made you stronger. You’ll see hope in days when the sun refuses to shine, and you’ll feel comfortable in the wisdom that bad days do pass, and all you have to do when you’re stuck in the middle of the storm is to keep breathing and trust that things will eventually get better. You will get better.
“Let us throw off everything that stands in our way. Let us throw off any sin that holds on to us so tightly. And let us keep on running the race marked out for us. Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith.”

A year ago, I worked in a gym. The kids went to school. Life was normal.
I sometimes wake up and wonder if the pandemic really happened. Then I see a pile of
schoolwork, strewn across the kitchen table, and the full force of reality rushes in.
I am sure that everyone has their own tale to tell, about how lockdown has affected them, and most likely how it has changed them, too.
For me it has been a total cliché – an absolute rollercoaster of a ride. I left my job during Lockdown One, built a gym in the garden (from nothing but a set of 1980’s dumbbells) and started my own Personal Training business. I have also learnt (whether I wanted to or not) how to add improper fractions and surprisingly, how to lay artificial grass.
I also found (and lost) love, during lockdown.
It is almost as if 10-years of my life has been condensed into just one, and the result is a weirdly eventful period of massive ups, and heart-breaking lows. There have of course been spells of abject boredom, along with gin-infused meltdowns (me, not the kids), but all-in-all, the pandemic has had a strangely cathartic effect.
Now however, the end is in sight (so too is the pub) and as we look back and reflect upon our
individual journeys, we can also look forward to sitting in the pub garden, crying tears of joy,
while we exchange hugs and drink huge jugs of Pimms and lemonade, in the sunshine – Hooray!
