Okapis have a great sense of smell and big ears to help them sense potential danger
Artsy tumblr update, animal edition yay
Alright, late but these are all from earlier this year!
Even though Ossicones aren’t animals, this is still an animal fact.
Ossicones are horn-like or antler like protuberances that are only found in the giraffidae/giraffid family. (ie. okapi and giraffes.) Ossicones are made out of cartilage covered in skin and fur, rather then keratin as horns are. Both male and female giraffes have Ossicones, but only male okapi have them while female okapi have small bumps
Been organizing my DeviantART gallery and page a bit today, and I came across this one drawing I decided to share here (and I made it a front page feature on my page :D) - as I think it’s easily one of the most adorable drawings I’ve ever done. :3
I really wanted to get some practice drawing an okapi, a giraffe and a zebra, so I decided to work them all into the same drawing. An okapi calf and his two adoptive papas grooming him. :3
Okapi: jiráfido solitario de actitud evasiva y muy asustadiza.

Here we go again! Another try at my babe Juniper Andromeda from Crescent City - but digitally and in full on ballet attire. I gave her little golden shoes for her hooves as well as caps for her horns. I hope you like her!

Hmmmm. I was going to give him underbelly - but I kinda like how okapi looks.
