Walburga Black never allowed her children to have any toys, let alone keep them in their beds like stupid muggles do. Meanwhile Sirius and Regulus often had nightmares, perhaps induced by the house elves' heads hung on the walls of their family home.
When Sirius arrived at Hogwarts he noticed that his roommate Remus was sleeping with a teddy bear and one day he decided to ask him about it.
Remus said his mom liked to knit toys, and this teddy was the first one she had made for him when he was a baby. He said he always carried it with him and slept with it every night because it made him feel safe.
James made fun of him for this for a little while, saying that 11 is way too old to sleep with toys but Sirius seemed very intrigued.
One night Remus offered to lend him his teddy bear, and seeing it helped Sirius sleep better he suggested to get his mom to knit Sirius his very own teddy bear that he'd give him the next year when they meet in Hogwarts again.
Hearing this story, Hope Lupin was deeply touched and decided to start sending Sirius 3 new toys every holiday.
Needless to say, from his first day of second year at Hogwarts, Sirius has never slept without at least 3 plushies covering his face up until he ran away from Grimmauld Place, having to finally leave all these beloved gifts behind.

From an upcoming chapter of Overgrown:
Ellana looked up to find, to her surprise, that the area near Krem’s truck and the trailer was all but deserted. Far in the distance, at the opposite side of the clearing, she could just make out a cluster of people huddled around one of the dig sites. Even Alexius’ bodyguards were there, standing conspicuously around the outer edges of the group.
Weird, she thought. Had they found something? If they had, why hadn’t anyone told her? And where was Solas? He was usually easy to spot in a crowd, but now he was nowhere to be seen.
As if in answer to her question, she suddenly heard his voice spilling out from the open door of Alexius’ trailer. It was a low, furious tone that she had only heard him use once before - when he was threatening to have her kicked out of the museum back in Lydes.

Coming from a place that has alot of trees everywhere, and woods/etc.
It's weird sonetimes reading books (usually horror/etc) where the writer has like a chase, escape, or tense scenario of them running through a forest or even more perplexing DRIVING through an area described as being a forest, and I'm honestly just here like
🤔how. how. Like--
I'm not trying to be offensive here, it's a genuine question because I've seen this in a bunch of stories
And I can't even pretend to be able to imagine someone steering a whole car through a forest because every single woods and forest I've ever seen in my life Does NOT have the space for that, and definitely doesn't have straight lines these trees and everything be everywhere you wouldn't be ABLE to fit a vehicle through there 5 feet? Let alone drive through a forest. Like they specifically emphasize it's an overgrown area, and wild, and gnarly branches, and that there is no trail and I gotta ask at that point if the writer has ever even seen or been to any woods that aren't at all maintained or plotted by a township💀 Like i don't mean the perfect pics that show up when you search up 'forest' on google I mean actually lived around them and walked through there it ain't easy lmao
I imagine having to run for my life like these kid protags be doing and I'm just like shiiiiiii They be torn up and scratched and battered all over in no time going like that ow😬😬😬
i need to get some pics of what I really mean but here's a few from just the outside that'd give you an idea of what reference I got to work with here irl:
like this here is near the start of I guess a lil path even but it don't go far before you on your own so to say
Like I really wonder if some of these writers be from the city and their only reference for woods/forest is the perfect pics you see on google images💀
I love the natural area so much. I really do. I see these sights above like every day (season dependant but ykwim) I just can't picture somebody straight tryina drive through any of the woodlands around here 'without hitting a tree' because there ain't no space Not to lmao
overgrown dirt path ✨
Ellana Lavellan is an investigative journalist assigned to cover an excavation in the Arbor Wilds. Her editors have received a tip that the dig may uncover new information about the “Final Inquisitor,” a mysterious figure from the Dragon Age about whom almost nothing is known. Ellana teams up with a museum docent to investigate the story.

Solas x Lavellan || Modern AU || Read on AO3 || Read from the beginning
Though the first evening after their dinner at The Crestwood Arms was painfully awkward, filled with extended silences and a noticeable lack of eye contact, the days after improved markedly. It was still a challenge for Ellana to share such a close space with anyone, let alone someone who had so recently told her in no uncertain terms that he didn’t reciprocate her feelings. But she and Solas settled into a surprisingly easy calm that made their collaboration much smoother than it had been previously. In some ways, it was easier to talk to him now that she was no longer wondering what was going on in his head. She could focus on the work, and nothing else.
Or at least that was what she told herself. She could almost believe it when they were out in the field, with plenty of distractions surrounding them. But it was nearly impossible to ignore the ache in her chest when she lay in bed with him at night, listening to the slow rhythm of his breathing as he fell asleep.
“I've been waiting for you a long time, Alina,” he said. "You and I are going to change the world.”
