In response to the petition for Petco to raise its recommended minimum tank size from 0.25 gal to 3 gal, Marine Depot has updated their “Better Betta Care” website article to recommend a minimum of 5 gallons for a single Betta fish.
The article previously offered a range of 2.5 to 5 gallons as a starting point, but by making 5 gallons the clear suggested minimum, Marine Depot demonstrates the importance of providing adequate space and stable water conditions for Bettas, and it shows that they are listening to consumer demands.
This simple change tracks movement away from the widespread and misguided association between Bettas and tiny tanks, and Marine Depot is among the first top US pet retailers to lead in this direction with their Betta fish care resources!
Also -- notice the new Petco logo and their rebranding as the "Health and Wellness Company." Doesn't their logo look awkward at the 0.25 gallon mark?
Please consider signing, sharing, and/or commenting on the petition to amplify these calls for proper Betta fish guidance from Petco and pet industry leaders! And if you would like to see other retailers like PetSupermarket update their Betta fish guidance, please consider leaving a comment mentioning them too!
