DISGUSTING ! So we have everything you can imagine in this industry: rape, beastiality, babies being taken away from their mothers,
inflammation of the udders (leads to puss in all milk products!),
male baby cows getting killed, female cows end up as milk maschines, and after 4-5 years they all end up as “stuff” in the supermarkets.
The dairy industry IS the meat industry. When you are vegetarian you automatically support the meat industry when you eat and drink dairy products!
Often times when we share stories of animal cruelty, especially towards animals who are NOT used and abused for animal agriculture, people call into question the humanity of the people who are cruel. Vegans and nonvegans alike may call someone who is cruel to animals a “monster” or “inhuman”, but this is a rhetoric that I disagree with. The people who are cruel to animals are people and we cannot ‘other’ them from us. Every single human has the capacity to be cruel to eachother and any nonhuman animal - many people (knowingly or not) contribute to animal cruelty every single day because of what they choose to eat/wear/use/buy. We cannot condone cruelty in any form and we must choose every day not to contribute to violence and avoid rhetoric which assumes that humans do what is right by default.
Burdock and dandelion tea w/ turmeric, coconut sugar, honey, almond milk, and @woodspell.apothecary Titania Bitters. This is how I’ve been starting my day for almost two weeks. This delicious drink helps with boosting my digestive health. I really love the Titania Bitters’ flavor and digestive support. I look forward to purchasing more of Val’s bitters in the future.
After eating my extremely sugary cereal yesterday morning I’ve decided I’m going to conduct an experiment. For the next week I’m only going to eat savoury breakfasts!
Any suggestions? Obviously tofu scrambles are top of the list because I love them. I enjoy avocados but on their own on some toast is like eating a flip flop. I work from home on Thursdays but the other four days I need something fairly quick before work.
Anyway, here’s day one:
Tofu scramble with mushrooms and spinach, refried beans, avocado and salsa. Taste sensation! When I told the boyfriend what I was going to make for breakfast last night he declared that he’d have it too. So he actually got up two hours earlier than he usually would to have it (I’m an early riser). He loves tofu scrambles which is great because he also loves eggs and the less eggs he has the better! He gobbled it up and then went back to bed 😂
I pretty consistently get in two portions of fruit at breakfast time. Unless it’s a smoothie, technically that’s only considered one because you’re taking away the fibre but ya catch my drift. So I’d like to still like to hit two portions of veggies! Fruits that are considered vegetables shall be allowed during this experiment. Tomatoes, avocados, peppers etc, let’s not get silly here. Legumes are only considered one of your five a day no matter how much you eat but I may just let that one slide too! I’d say it’s unlikely that’d happen but I love hummus and baked beans together on sweet potatoes so it occasionally does. The key is to basically make sure I eat lots of veggies and don’t just eat bagels every day, which I could very happily do because bagels are delicious.
I’m probably going to be craving oats for the rest of the day now 😂
Adzuki beans and black beans. Adzuki beans have a lot of protein packed in them compared to other beans. I had an urge to buy some cookies and even asked my husband for chicken, I ended up eating a mixture of these babies with some split peas and I am too full to even think about whatever foods.
I am planning on making mung bean soup soon. I hope it comes out ok!
Tofu fried rice for my dinner tonight 😊 it was super good! I chopped up a small onion and a clove of garlic and then added cooked rice and 1/3 packet of silken tofu which I then seasoned with soy sauce. I added steamed broccoli and kohlrabi one everything was cooked 🥦👌so tasty!
