Notes from Underground / Poor People / The Friend of the Family,
Kind of hard for me to take the “reach out to the Trump supporters you know because they’re your class allies” argument certain leftists are making seriously when the Venn diagram of the Trump supporters I know and richest people I know makes a near circle
everybody talks about having a lot of money or being rich would be so relaxing and would solve everything. I wonder sometimes if this is really the case.. , because we live for small steps and hustle aren’t we ? We’re getting so much joy and happiness when we achvied something for ourselves even when it is just the ground of the whole cake. We want to work and achieve our dreams , learn new everyday , appreciate little things.
Being on some point of your life with everything your ever needed and wanted with really nothing but just a vision a dream and hustle to never stop. Doesn’t it feel great ?
I wouldn’t know I guess If I already been rich.
from Dostoevsky’s epistolary novel “Poor People,” a poor clerk reacts to Gogol’s “The Overcoat” and takes it way too personally.
Chaser (from Varvara the next day):
Makar Alexievich is in this picture and he doesn’t like it. So he’s going to get drunk about it.
(first picture: “Of course, no one is free from MINOR faults. Everyone has some of them, and you among the rest, my beloved. But in grave or audacious offenses never have I been detected, nor in infringements of regulations, nor in breaches of the public peace. No, never! This you surely know, even as the author of your book must have known it.Yes, he also mucst have known it when he sat down to write. I had not expected of this of you, my Barbara. I should never have expected it.”
second picture: “YOU, I say, have now give way to an unpleasant vice of which you seem never before to have been guilty. What were my feelings when Thedora informed me that you had been discovered drunk in the street, and taken home by the police.”)
“You’re in your 20s and still live with your mom??”
Yeah it’s called my whole family is struggling and we all need a place to live
being broke is not having a stylus or drawing tablet so u gotta use a mouse on a chromebook to draw
man, if i could go like just one day on the internet with people making fun of poor people for what we have to eat to literally just survive that’d be fucking nice
My dad is a general contractor. He can do everything: framing, painting, drywall, carpentry, cabinets, plumbing, tiling.
This is how he stores his tile spacers
it’s so annoying that rory is a caricature of herself in the but not as cute as pushkin episode…
Let’s play “how many of my protagonists deal with imposter syndrome completely by accident because it’s one of the mental struggles I’m most familiar with!”
Im just gonna complain about my hearing in the tags
Detective Comics (2016) #1031
tw: sexual assault
Athena: Oh- I see, one of my priestesses was r•ped by Poseidon inside my temple…. well someone must be punished!
Medusa: Thank you, my lady-
Athena: Therefore, I will turn you into a hideous monster that will kill anyone you set eyes on. Then, you are going to spend years banished on a tiny island where men will constantly try to murder you, until this kid finally succeeds and takes your head as a prize.
Medusa: What? Why?
Athena: This is Ancient Greece, in this sexist society you shall be blamed for being assaulted.
a short psa:
In Ovid’s version of the myth, Athena did not turn Medusa to a gorgon to protect her from Poseidon, on the contrary, she did it to punish her. It is important to remember that this myth takes place in Ancient Greece, where women had little to no rights or protection and where powerful men, especially Gods did not have to deal with the consequences for their actions. I do know there are other versions of the myth, but it is very unlikely, considering the time misogynistic period, that Medusa would be viewed as a victim or a survivor.
