Biden is apparently “closely monitoring”, and mayor Ted Wheeler is pushing to punish property crimes more harshly, instead of working to protect Portland residents from indiscriminate chemical weapon deployments.

Portland.
You took me in your arms
and said,
“It’ll be okay.”
How am I to know
if that’s what you mean?
I’m only human.
Portland.
You made so many
of your people a star
but you never thought
of why they’d rule.
Portland.
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me
cry over the boys
that never gave a damn
about me?
But I can’t imagine
a day without the people
who made this girl
blossom into a flower.
I can’t imagine how much suffering
that I have to go through
in order to say that it’s my time
to go through the changes
that I want to make in my life.
Portland.
Can you see it too?
Or are you blind
to see all the changes
that she made
just to keep you?
Because you roam around
with people like Alyssa McKay
and The Unipiper,
just so you could
forget how she cried
herself to sleep
that one December night.
Portland.
Will you know my name
if people ends up
breaking me into two
like how others proclaimed
how I made them feel
like they don’t belong?
When that’s all
that I’ve been feeling
since I got here.
Portland.
Who am I to judge you?
You are someone like me.
You are someone who cries to herself
but that doesn’t mean that you are weak.
It means that you have a heart
that will be breakable
but never by the same hands.
Portland.
How will you love again?
Even after my days are through.
Hello everybody :)
So… I wanted to write something about how this week has been. To start, here where I live if we go out from Monday to Saturday we have to be back at home at 7:00 PM and all day at home on Sundays. But that’s old news.
I started to wrok again btw, at home, of course.
I was about 10 years old when I first listened to You Belong With Me. The rest is obvious. Now you may be wondering why it took me so long if Taylor’s career started in 2006, right? well, basically, back then I was around 7 years old, I had no access to internet and Tim Mcgraw wasn’t a thing in my country. Theeeen in 2010 was this big start for me. An old friend of mine lent me his copy of Speak Now and that same night I played it on my computer while checking the booklet that got me fascinated. Even though I loved each song, I was extremely into Haunted, but this story is not about track 12.
Now here comes this big revelation that came to me on YouTube just yestarday.
I was watching the Sparks Fly video, this one https://youtu.be/oKar-tF__a
you know vibing hard to it and then THIS…
https://youtu.be/V_ddn4tJSBw *add stars and tiwwchnt choir*
When I read “original version” I was like… I need to check this out even though I was not expecting it to be a real thing. I was shocked, litteraly. The way lyrics are different and how she talks about falling in love in a bar when she was about 17… singing about this guy that she had a crush on leading her up the staircase? That she’s gonna strike that match tonight? That she would love to hate it but she can’t because he makes it like a firework show? shooked can’t describe how I felt yesterday and now I still feel now lol.
Anyways, I loooove how cohesive the lyrics are in this version, basically they met in a bar, fell in love and sparks fly. But I really love how lyrics go so well with the instrumental in the rewritten 2010 version. I’m glad Taylor got the chance to give this song a try and ended up being an all times fave.
This might be old stuff for 2006 Swifties but I’m so happy.
If we check the Speak Now booklet, the hidden message for Sparks Fly is “Portland Oregon” and doing some research, that might be also old news for some swifties, this was *supposedly* written about a singer named Jake Owen when Taylor was about 17. 17 singing about being in a bar. The old Taylor was back since 2017 and I didn’t noticed lol.
I wasn’t sure how they met so I did some more research and turns out they met in 2006 when Taylor was an oppening act to Jake’s show at a bar and according to soundslikenashville.com Taylor posted about that night on her MySpace profile. Here’s a screenshot:
Taylor mentions she dressed up as an angel and her band wore devil ear headbands so I had to look for it and here are some pictures of that night that you can easily find.
So… Sparks Fly is about two people meeting in a bar *where she actually met Jake* and she likes the guy’s green eyes. Seems like Taylor said the song was more about fantasy than real life, which is good since Taylor was still 16 and Jake around 25. The song was written during 2006 - 2007 and then officially recorded with lyrics changed in 2010 for Speak Now, the self written masterpiece.
Ya’ll, I love finding out stuff like this even if I’m more than 10 years late.
Ps: I wish I was THIS dedicated at doing research for school projects. Study, it’s good.
