Couldn’t be happier in a place like this
So fun- a sizzling bacon oven mitt for your bacon fan!
All mitts are handmade and quilted. Quilting makes them extra durable.
An artifact from my earliest quilting days.
If you ask me about when I started quilting, I will likely tell you about making a quilt with my mother the summer before I went away to college. But really, my first quilt project was making three quilted potholders when I was about nine. They were gifts for my grandmothers and my one remaining great grandmother. My mom picked out the fabric and the block patterns to match their kitchens. I did a nine patch (pictured above), a yellow pinwheel variation, and the third one may have been a star of some sort. I am not sure though. It went to my great grandmother and I don’t know what happened to it after she died, but I do know it was pink and green.
I hand pieced them and hand quilted them, and then my mother bound them on her machine.
I don’t think any of my grandmothers actually used these potholders, instead they displayed them on their fridges. This one belonged to Grandma Velm until she died and it ended up back in my parent’s household where it does get used, which is why it is a bit worn and stained.
This is a handmade oven mitt with Dr. Seuss characters including Horton, Thing 1 and Thing 2, One Fish Two Fish, the Lorax, the Cat in the Hat, and more.
There is a layer of heat-resistant material to protect your hand. It is a generous size, 7" wide at the thumb and 12" long.
All my crafting energy has been going into making these potholders for christmas presents for people at work. AND THEY ARE FINALLY DONE! (Not pictured are the potholders and apron I made my mother) I feel like I only get one free day a week to do anything and I’m ready for christmas to be over so my time and energy doesn’t have to be spent on that.
I’ve been in a sewing mood pretty much all year and I think finally (esp after this project) I’m ready to focus on other things…maybe painting and drawing…or making tiny food.
I made double-sided potholders instead of sleeping last night
In my defense the moon was full and I was unsupervised
time to hold the pots
If I made LGBTQ themed potholders who would be interested?
Another WIP! Only have to fix the eyes and crochet his buddy, and it’s done!
Miss Marple est rhabillée pour l'hiver… 😂😂
Bonne fin de dimanche
Have a sweet end of the day
Bom fim da tarde de domingo 😘

This is what disappointment looks like. I was trying to make a pot holder. It ended up being way to rectangular and I thought the colors kinda clashed. I took it apart not to long after that. It was supposed to be a piranhas plant from super mario. I’m working on a wedding gift for a friend and her and her fiance are really into geeky stuff so I’m making mario themed potholders. I have two out of hopefully three done, beside this one.
I’ve been pretty busy with work lately and I’m trying to make more. It’s hard juggling real and social media.
Housewarming potholders for a friend.
And finished the final set of potholders for Geek Craft! I always love the final look of the various potholders, but damn, they are boring to make after awhile (60 rows of single crochet, and you have to do it twice each time to get a full set).
Anyway, Matt Murdock is a dumpster fire, and Foggy Nelson is too good for this world.
Realised my potholders were super old and greasy and gross, so I made some shiny new star trek ones. :)
