clearly i don’t have what one would call «musician’s hands». my fingers are thick and short, especially my pinky is tiny. i always look at other violist’s hands and wonder if i would be a better player had i been born with long, slender fingers. i guess i’ll never know, but here i still am, studying in finland’s only university of performing arts with my chubby hands. and hey, at least they’re very wide! it really helps on the viola.
as you might be able to tell from the picture, i’m practising my bach at the moment. i personally think it really helps to hold the bow a little higher up when playing pre-classical era music. i’ve had a few baroque viola lessons, and i’m trying to get a more «period» feel on my modern instrument as well. what’s your bow hold like when you play baroque?

This bad boy can forge any metal in no time.
My dog would sleep right under my hi-hats while I practiced but would freak out when someone lit a bottle rocket 4 miles away. What’s going on with that? #dogs #drums #fireworks #boom #boomboom #whatsupwiththat #practice #fuckdonaldtrump (at Amp Rehearsal)
Eye see you
Made my very first animation today in Photoshop!
I know, I know…it’s not made for that but it has more frames than the version of CSP than I have and I was already familiar with it from making GIFs in the past so work flow wasn’t too hard for something simple like this.
I definitely want to try and do some more animation, both to improve my drawing skills and hopefully so I can do some animation for my channel, but we’ll see!

For my Personal Statement, I have to write a sentence or two about something that really inspired me in terms of architecture. To me, part of what caught my eye is the comparison of architecture between my home area of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, and more modernist settings like Tokyo. That could be said about a lot of places to be honest, but this is just my example.
I’ve already been a fan of design (in fact, I’m a sucker for anything geometric or polygonal in nature), but during one of my trips to Japan, me and a couple of friends paid a visit to “21_21 Design Sight”, a design museum in Midtown Tokyo. It wasn’t strictly an intentional visit, but we were already vaguely aware of the location before deciding to use the visit as a good excuse to exit of out the sudden rain storm.
This building certainly had an effect on me, I couldn’t help but take as many photos as I could (plus a few sketches too). The angles in the building easily hold the credit for making me pay attention to a modern building could be, opening my eyes to pay closer attention to architecture going forward; both at home and abroad. There are always details to be found in the outline of a shape, the negative space, even the choice of materials and textures, whether they are in harmony or contrasting. (The attached photos don’t do it justice, they're just some quick grabs from google and in my opinion, its something you need to experience really).
Personal photographic pursuits easily reflected my change in attitude in how to admire and approach these sorts of things; During a trip across the south of England, with stops at places like Dungeness (the UK’s only official Desert), the Isle of Portland (go to Portland Bill Lighthouse and the East Weare Battery), I spent more time taking photos of the details and shapes of things than of the things themselves.
This is giving me some good ideas on how to structure this segment of my Personal Statement, I just need to boil it down to a handful of sentences…
I was gifted the tools to start learning Sumi-e. It was something I always wanted to do. These are my first attempts. They’re not the best, but practice makes perfect! I need to work on the consistency of ink and the depth of color I can get just from using black.
Grinding the ink is really relaxing to me, and painting itself helps manage my stress and anxieties.
Here’s a contribute to the #BLM movement. Sorry if it’s a little bit dim, I was playing around with the lighting a bit. Rememebe r #blacklivesmatter even though everything is gone back to normal on your feed. Have a nice day and stay safe out there
