Bertha drawing I did! This was mainly an anatomy study but I love Bertha!!
I'm not new or revolutionary in posting about how much I'm enjoying the 2021 Guardians of the Galaxy game, but try and stop me! I get the sense I wasn't alone in my worry of how this game would come out, right? The Avengers game out of Square and Crystal Dynamics was, favorably, a massively flawed attempt and, unfavorably, bad. Guardians didn't exactly show off well during it's E3 related appearances, nor did it bode well that it seemed to have gone completely unknown for as long as it did prior to announcement. But then, all of that was crap, because it's a fantastic video game. the issues I had watching the combat system in video form vanished when I realized how it actually felt to play. My worry that only playing as Star Lord would grow stale, fell apart as soon as I realized the game has an extremely high degree of control over your team and the ways in which you all work together to fight enemies. Hell, even my worries about the games lackluster looking performance were dismissed when it became clear this game runs rock solid on aging PC hardware. It's also just astounding to take in the sheer amount of writing this game has in it. I'm not sure I've played one section of the game where one of the characters isn't talking. Whether it be just to fill time while you explore an environment. Point something out, or even as a part of the games surprisingly robust Mass Effect style conversation option system. The team is always talking to each other, and I'd say about 70% of the time the writing is fantastic. I don't meant to sound like a backhanded compliment either, for the amount of writing in this, the fact 70% of it is as good as it is, is an astounding ratio. Again, I am not the first person to write this. Hell, just about every review of this game is a far better articulated version of this post. I wanted to talk about it anyway, and nobody is going to stop me but me. Or a depressive funk, but thankfully, despite the internet's best attempts, that's not the case right now!

What Connor would say if he met Ada, RK800 would do anything to protect Leon from any danger! As his partner, it is very important prioritizing his life. ( repost w credits pls~ ↺+♡ )
you know what? finally watched welcome to raccoon city and despite having a weak ending I'd honestly say it's probably the most well put together and honestly my second favorite video game movie. it does the best job with telling the story of the first two games in one movie that it probably could. it's a fun standalone popcorn movie and I am totally here for it.
and if you wanna read thematics into it the take of "corporations will suck everything they can from the working class and then literally send them to die when they are done" while pretty basic I think works better for a standalone movie than trying to jam the whole theme of american imperialism and eugenics that the games have into it, even if it has less bite (haha).
the movie is total fanservicey shlock and yet is made really really well and totally gets the series in spirit even if it takes liberties with the plot and I would argue is actually more anti-cop than the actual games are which is nice. still copaganda though (especially by letting Irons off the hook).
I will say I don't understand what they did with Wesker. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It's like they combined his character in RE1 with Barry's so he both a betrayer and a hapless victim who gets "redeemed" right after shootiing a girls parents right in front of her. Just weird as hell. It's like the writers were like "we have bigger fish to fry" with Birkin and just gave up with Wesker. Oh well.
I really enjoyed this movie. The characters were fun to watch (although Jill was my least favorite surprisingly enough), it captured the setting of Raccoon City really well, and it balanced being accurate to the games with taking its own interpretation really well. Honestly it seemed to do the impossible by combining so many elements of the Raccoon City Incident into one movie. Also the little easter eggs were really cute and worked for me (itchy tasty). This movie literally did the best that it could have imo.
Also watching Lisa Trevor fight a Licker was amazing.
Is this a review? 9/10 I guess
Watching the new Resident Evil movie and wow.
When you say you prefer the Paul W S Anderson versions, you know they did wrong...
There's a shot of a trucker zombie, on fire, strutting into the RPD, to Jennifer Paiges 1998 banger of a song "Crush".
I'm. Not. Kidding. I just lmfao at it. Husband was in hysterics aswell. Only things I enjoyed were the little easter eggs only fans would get, the sets for RPD, Spencer Mansion looked incredible and some of the camera angles were perfect!
But no Barry, Claire being able to use lock picks and not Jill, an odd love triangle between Chris, Jill and Wesker, Irons being killed by a licker and lasting so long, Leon being dumb and absolutely USELESS when he really wasn't, Chris and Claire knowing Birkin, Lisa Trevor being Claires friend despite only meeting Jill in the games!
Sorry, just annoyed the husband and me.
The Resident Evil series has been in my life since RE1 on the PS1, feel so damn old. And omg this was just horrible.
There's so much lore to the series, so much you could do with it. And yet, this director shits all over it, despite being a fan...
If you liked it, then thats great. I hope it inspires ppl to go and experience the games, books and other film adaptations if not already. But this hurts so much.
Just despair. So much despair.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) Review
Starring: Kaya Scodelario, Robbie Amell, Avan Jogia, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hopper, and Neal McDonough. Following a mixed response to Paul W. S. Anderson’s hexad franchise, Resident Evil returns to its roots with a faithful homage to the video games. Set during the course of one night in Raccoon City 1998, Redfield siblings, Chris (Robbie Amell) and Claire (Kaya Scodelario), STARS members,…

TBH: Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was a good movie as maybe a stand alone film; but, not as the representation of RE 1 & 2. They got a few small details correct, but then there were moments where I had to double check to make sure I was watching Resident Evil. The only thing I really liked was the zombie dog. Sadly, the climax lasted an all of maybe 3 minutes. I was very disappointed.
There's only one thing that's worse than a raccoon
He kinda looks like The Duke! 👀
I know this game came out like, a decade ago? And that it's not canon. But come on, he looks like The Duke and I can't unsee it. 🤣🤣
Leucistic raccoon (not albino, albino will have red eyes and a pink nose)
Here’s an albino raccoon
