  • Hmmmm, so I could go for a walk, since I have no lectures today and the weather is lovely. Get some fresh air, enjoy the last sunny days of the Old Wives’ summer.

Or I could stay in the bed for a whole day, loosing all sense of time, and then be sad and disappointed with myself in the evening.

Come on, me, the choice should be obvious!

  • Derp.

The Samples came back from vacation (not the one we just reached in the queue, but the next one). The game got so laggy back in the homeworld that I ran NRaas->Matercontroller->Reset Everything.

Right after the reset, Winston LTW was granted! The one he’s barely halfway to reaching!

Yeek. Gotta figure out how to fix that. Has anyone UNgranted a LTW using a mod (NRaas or otherwie?)

  • Met a MAGNIFICENT ginger Maine Coon today. He chattered to me and even though he clearly was in the mood to hunt something he never once made that thing my hand.

As I was petting him a guy appeared and started telling me that the cat’s name was Ginger and that he technically lived at the house across the road but that he was essentially owned by the whole street at this stage and would spend most mornings asleep on the man I was speaking to’s sofa.

Ginger verified this story (after a moment’s dramatic posing on the pavement - showing off how spectacularly enormous he is) by trotting up to the door of a house that was neither the house of his owners nor the man who’s sofa he sleeps on.

Good cat. Hope to meet him again some day

Boris Johnson is busking at being Prime Minister- he’s gone on a TV talent show thinking he can perform like one of his music heroes but turns out he can’t play or sing properly & only do daft dances to put a smile on a few faces. Worked a bit for a while but nobody’s laughing now”-Lord Toby Harries

  • US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an iconic champion of women’s rights, has died at the age of 87 from Pancreatic cancer. Here are some of the response to a death of such a remarkable cultural and political figure.

“Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. We will forever remember her as a towering legal figure of superb skill, a ground-breaking seeker of justice, a tireless advocate for human rights, and an inspiration to women and girls everywhere.

My deepest sympathies go out to her family and all those touched by her loss.”-Karen Pierce, UK ambassador to US

“We have lost one of the most extraordinary Justices ever to serve on the Supreme Court. Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life and landmark opinions moved us closer to a more perfect union. And her powerful dissents reminded us that we walk away from our Constitution’s promise at our peril.”-Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States.

“God, every time I think we’ve surely hit peak horrible since 2016, the world finds a way to say, “Hold my beer.”

“Une femme d’exception s’en est allée. Ruth Bader Ginsburg a mené toute sa vie un combat universel pour la justice, l'égalité entre les femmes et les hommes et le respect des droits fondamentaux. Son immense héritage continuera de nous inspirer.”-Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of France.

We lost unforgettable woman and legal legend yesterday. Let’s try to not also lose what’s left of a functional democracy in the US in 2020, okay? 😥”-Sylvia de Mars

“Imagine being such a beacon of exceptional achievement that little girls grow up celebrating you in your lifetime, but your death is so political people barely finish saying yeah she was great before pivoting to the fight over your successor….”-Janine Gibson

“What an amazing woman we have lost with Ruth Bader Ginsburg

She has been an awesome light & resistance to the ever encroaching darkness & power of division and fascism. She was a warrior for equality & freedom. We cannot allow her fight to have been in vain ✊”-Bex Stinson

“I honestly cannot express right now how I feel hearing the news about Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her impact has been truly astonishing and the work she did for women’s rights is almost unparalleled.

RIP to the incredible and always notorious RGB.”-Natalie Silvey

“Justice Ginsburg carried the weight of gatekeeping our constitutional rights for 27 years. Do not let your fear and devastation erase your celebration of her life - you’ll need your will, your strength, and her inspiration to fight for the value of your own - now, more than ever.”-Feminist Next Door

“It is an extraordinarily sad thing thing to wake up to the news that Ruth Bader Ginsberg has died. She was an incredible warrior for human rights and for justice, the the world is diminished by her passing.”-Nancy Kelley

“Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the kind of scholar and patriot you get excited about explaining to your kids. The kind of person who you say “who knows, one day you could be HER”. I hope you rest well, RBG, you must have been tired from changing the world.”-Mindy Kaling

“Her rest is earned. It is our turn to fight.”-Kerry Washington

“Unafraid to call out injustices and use her platform - inside and outside the courtroom - to push for change. A trailblazer for Human Rights and Equality in so many ways, there will never be another.”-Grainne Teggart

“Deeply saddened by the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

She was an incredible legal mind and a champion of justice. She gave generations of women and girls the belief that they too could fight for a more equal world.

She will be sorely missed.”-Sir Keir Starmer, MP & Leader of the UK Labour Party.

And here are some of her quotes:

“I don’t say women’s rights—I say the constitutional principle of the equal citizenship stature of men and women.” - Ruth Bader Ginsburg

“No woman of means will ever lack access to abortion in the United States”- US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

“When I’m sometimes asked, when will there be enough women on the Supreme Court, and I say, ‘When there are nine,’ people are shocked. But there’d been nine men, and nobody’s ever raised a question about that.” ― Ruth Bader Ginsburg

“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.“ - Ruth Bader Ginsburg

  • I GM'ed for my sister, her husband, and some of their friends back home who always wanted to play but didn’t know anyone. It was my first time GM'ing and their first time playing, so I kept it simple.

They all forgot they had weapons.

I had to keep fudging my rolls to keep them from dying.

Sister: “Hey, wait, I’m like a dragon person. Can I bite them? Or maybe stab them with this sword I have?!?”

Me: “HOLY FUCK, YES!!! Roll to stab!”

    Sister: *nat 20*

Me: “You save the whole party including everyone who should technically be dead.”

Male Friend: “Wait… We had weapons?”

    Any tips for future sessions?“

  • Floods in my town due to a river’s dams breaking should have been on my 2020 disaster bingo card I guess.

We are okay, I slept at my grandma’s and we woke up with water flooding in, up to our ankles, nothing was destroyed luckily but I spent most of the day swooping water out of the house and trying to clean off the mud and dirt from inside. My arms gonna be crying tomorrow. We have no electricity and mobile networks fail… so I’ve gotta save up battery and data, will be back soon I guess but for now know I’ll have to be off.

  • I think going forward, we all need to start calling out stupid actions and comments. Perhaps if people are forced to confront their own stupidity they will start to grow and mature. By not calling it out as it occurred, we have done ourselves a disservice and now we have to deal with the most cringeworthy shit.

And I am not talking about online. I am talking about IN REAL LIFE. Don’t let people get away with dumb shit just because you don’t want to be bothered or you don’t think it’s worth the effort to correct.

This was my favorite toy when I was a kid. My favorite play was to pretend that I was a witch and I was making potions. Sometimes I used to pour water and a bunch of different plants in there, from the garden, and let it macerate for days, just to check it every so often to see if it had changed in the slightest. Other times I used to only put fragant flowers to see if I could create a perfume. Most of the time I’d find mosquito larvae had started to hatch in the smelly water.
