As the sun went down, the two boys finished off the twelve-pack of beers that they had opened that morning.

John B could tell JJ was already getting drunk, maybe one to two more would do it enough to get all the information out of him he needed.

Grabbing another one, JJ laid back against the couch, pretty close to John B, who decided not to make an effort in moving.

He glanced at JJ and raised an eyebrow. “There a reason you’re basically right on top of me?” He laughed.

“I meaaann unless you want me to moveeee…” JJ chuckled, taking another sip of his beer.

John B shook his head, “no, no. You’re fine.” He chuckled, thinking of what to ask him, he wasn’t sure how much time he had.

“Ok, you usually tell the truth when you’re drunk so where have you actually been staying these past couple nights?” He started off strong, thinking he’d get the most information that way.

“I-Iiiii’ve beeen staying with uhhh Saraaahh… y-yeah.. Sarah.. the girl from the Eight.. Figure Eight..” He was heavily slurring his words, not even making sense. John B started to worry about how much he would actually get out of him.

“N-no, J. Sarah is my girlfriend. Bella is your… girlfriend…” He stated, making quotation mark gestures with his hand as he said girlfriend.

“Oh yeah, I do have a girlllfrriend…” Jj laughed, taking another drink befor John B grabbed it out of his hand.

“Alright buddy that’s enough for tonight.” He smiled, sitting both their drinks on the table in front of them.

“You know, instead of Sarah and Bella or whatever.. maybe we should be the ones y’know.. macking..” JJ laughed.

John B’s head quickly snapped over, raising an eyebrow he looked at him. “D-do you know what you just said J?”

“Totally.. I mean… what’ve we got to looseee?” He laughed, climbing into John B’s lap.

“Dude, dude, dude! You’re really, really drunk, this is not the decision you want to be makin-“ John B was cut off by JJ smashing his lips into his.

John B stopped in his effort to push him off, he knew a drunk JJ was stronger than he was, he sucked it up and kissed him back, struggling to pull away from him.

By the time JJ finally pulled away they were both breathless. He smirked at his best friend who he had just kissed… without even thinking straight.

John B stared at him, pushing him off before standing up and grabbing his phone. He rubbed his face and dialed Kiara’s number.

He ran a hand through his hair as he looked back at JJ, waiting for Kie to answer.

“Hello-“ Kiara tried to talk but John B jumped in and cut her off almost immediately.

“Kiara I-I need you to come back, d-don’t tell Sarah or bring her with you I-I just really need you to get down here.. we’re fine but I-I don’t know what to do…” John B was freaking out, the more he talked about it the more he realized what had happened.

Kiara looked over at her mom and dad who were talking about the restaurant. “I’ll be there in a minute.” She hung up on John B and walked over to them.

“Mom, dad, I’m going to help John B.” She said, grabbing her bag, and walking towards the door.

“Young lady when are you going to listen to us about that John B kid?!” Her mother shouted as the bell rang, signaling she had exited the restaurant.

Michael sighed. “I don’t know what we’re gonna do about her…” Anna looked at him and raised an eyebrow. “I don’t care what she does anymore.. It’s clear that being raised by a pouge was more in her blood than being raised by a kook…” She sighed, walking away.

Kiara sighed as she got into her dads truck and drove back to The Chateau. Her mind went a thousand miles per hour wondering what possibly could have happened that John B needed her back for… and without Sarah…

She pulled up to The Chateau and noticed John B sitting on the porch steps, she didn’t see JJ, a pit formed in her stomach as she got out of the car and ran over, sitting down beside John B.

“Where’s JJ?” Was the first thing out of her mouth, not caring about anything else in the moment.

John B pointed to the couch where JJ had fallen asleep after the aforementioned event.

“Kiara.. I need you to listen to me, ok?” John B turned to look at her, hands shaking and all.

She grabbed his hands and looked him in the eyes. “What happened? Why did you not want Sarah to come?” She asked, concern filling her voice.

John B started to tear up, looking away from Kiara he muttered, “We kissed.” He laid his head in his hands.

Kiara’s thoughts went from worry to confusion in a matter of seconds. “John B look at me, what the hell do you mean y’all kissed?!” She grabbed his wrist, pulling it away from his face gently.

“I mean, me and JJ… we kissed… h-he got really drunk which I thought was great cause I could get information out of him, but he just completely takes me off guard and climbs in my lap and starts kissing me!” He explained, his voice trembling as tears fell down his face.

“John B, John B, John B! Listen!” Kiara grabbed his hands and held them gently, trying to calm him down.

“Chances are he won’t remember, nobody has to find out, ok? Just… act like it didn’t happen.” Kiara shrugged.

John B sniffled and looked away out into the distance. “What if I don’t wanna pretend it didn’t happen…” He mumbled.

Kiara sat up a bit, staring at him in shock. “John B that is your best friend since the third grade what do you mean?!”

“I-I don’t know! Ok? I liked it, it just… felt right…” He shrugged, ashamed at himself.

Kiara walked over to the couch and shook JJ awake. He looked up at her before sitting up. “W-where am I?-“

Kiara grabbed his wrist and cut him off. “You’re coming to stay with me.”

She led him to his car, he got in the passenger seat and looked out the windshield at John B, he could tell he’d been crying.

“Y-yo, Kie what’s going on?” He asked as she got into the drivers seat and buckled herself in.

“Shut the hell up and buckle in.” She said sternly, turning the car on. JJ had no idea what he had done…

Kiara drove around aimlessly for a good thirty minutes before stopping in an alleyway and parking the car, shutting it off.

JJ looked at her with a concerned look on his face. Did she know? Had he done something to John B while he was drunk? Did he say something?

Kiara turned in her seat after unbuckling her seat belt and looked at JJ, making an effort to not cry.

“What are you? Some kook now? Ditching us to hang out with this girl who probably isn’t even real, lying to us… and now you’ve severely fucked up..? What is going on with you?!” Kiara shouted, tears falling from her eyes.

JJ flinched. “W-what did I do? The last thing I remember is drinking with you, Pope, Sarah and John B, t-then you all left a-and me and John B got drunk!” He rambled on about everything he could remember.

“JJ, while you were drunk you-“ Kiara stopped. “It’s fine, it doesn’t matter I just… take me to meet this girl, right now.” She demanded, turning the car back on.

JJ’s mind started racing with ways to make up an excuse, glancing at the clock, he looked at Kiara. “I-it’s ten pm Kie, I doubt she’s awake-“

“Who the hell is she?!” Kiara cut him off, demanding an answer. “Sarah knows enough about Figure Eight to know exactly who lives there and who doesn’t and she’s never heard of anyone named Bella. So either stop lying or leave.” She shouted at him.

JJ’s instincts were telling him to get out of the truck and make a run for it, only thing is he was buckled up, and by the time he unbuckled Kiara would’ve known what he was doing.

“S-she’s a coverup ok…?” JJ sighed. “But you can’t tell anyone else! Just listen m-my dad said that if I tell y’all I’ve been staying with him he’s gonna kill me ok? I-I’m sorry…” JJ teared up. “And he’s forced me to be at home with him for the last few days that’s why I’ve been making excuses..” He started crying.

Kiara sat there in shock for a moment before a few tears fell from her eyes. She leaned over and held JJ tightly. “J…” She whimpered, feeling awful for him. “D-don’t tell anyone else, please… I-I’ve gotta figure out something first.”

“You’re moving in with John B, no buts.” She said, turning the car on and driving back towards The Chateau.

JJ groaned. “O-of course you’re making me move in with John B, t-the guy I just..-“ He stopped himself. Realizing what he was about to say.

“The guy you just kissed? Yeah he told me. But I don’t think it matters too much, you were both drunk.” She stated.

“We weren’t that drunk…” He mumbled. “I was definitely acting more than I was.”

JJ immediately got on his phone and messaged Topper. “I’m screwed.” He typed, sighing heavily as he sent it.

Kiara drove back up to The Chateau, John B was still on the porch cleaning up empty beer cans, thinking about what he was even gonna say to JJ.

Before JJ got out of the truck. Topper messaged him back. “Ah shit, they know? Do I need to come get you?” JJ read the message with shaking hands.

He replied. “Not the full story, just that Bella doesn’t exist.. I told them it was my dad making me stay with him..” JJ got out of the truck before he could start crying headlights blinded him.

Pope turned his dads truck off and hopped out of it, running up to JJ. “John B told me to get over here, what the hell happened?!” He grabbed his shoulders.

“I-I don’t know why he called you, Kie just came and got me, took me riding around The Cut…” He sighed.

Pope let go of his shoulders and walked up to the porch, John B looked at him, it was clear he had been crying, a lot.

“John B what happened…?” He looked at him, hoping he wouldn’t provoke more crying.

John B turned him around and pointed at JJ, who was walking up to the porch with Kiara. “W-what’s going on with JJ? Did something happen with Bella?” He started rapid fire asking questions.

“Bella doesn’t exist Pope, and we’ve got bigger problems.” Kiara shouted. “JJ’s dad has been holding him hostage, telling him not to tell us.

Pope looked over at JJ. “S-so that means your single?” Were unfortunately the first words out of his mouth, he mentally cursed himself for that.

Rightfully so, he earned a quick slap from John B across the face. “Sorry, I- are you ok?” He asked instead, holding his cheek.

He looked up at both the boys. “That’s not all…” He muttered, just loud enough for them to hear him.

John B took in a shaky breath as he walked over to JJ. “A-are you serious?” He mouthed, earning a nod from JJ.

Gulping, John B stood beside JJ, leaning in and whispering in his ear, “you don’t have to do this.”

“We kissed,” JJ blurted out. “Me and John B kissed. I-I was drunk and I moved on him and we kissed.” He sighed walking over and sitting on the couch.

“WHAT?!” Pope shouted, looking at Kiara. “Did you know about this?” He asked frantically as Kiara nodded. “Yes, yes I knew! Now calm down!” She yelled, placing her hands on Pope’s shoulders.

John B went over and sat down next to JJ who’s first instinct was to rest his head on his shoulder. John B didn’t stop him.

Pope turned to look at them, stepping over and sitting in a chair, followed by Kiara.

“First off, what the hell are you gonna tell Sarah? Second off, JJ why have you been lying to us? And third of all, Are we positive this is it?!” Pope shouted, trying to hold back his anger.

“Pope, listen! I can explain!” JJ shouted, leaning up from John B’s shoulder. “So what are y’all a thing now?” He pointed to them, shouting.

JJ shook his head, standing up as he looked at the other three pouges sitting around him.

“I can explain!” He said before everyone turned their heads as a pair of headlights pulled up to The Chateau.
