Songs that Sappho would have in her playlist if she were alive today
I haven't been doing playlists lately...but it's pride month (and also my birthday!!), and I've had this idea of a playlist full of songs with sapphic energy for a while...so here it is. Feedback is always appreciated c:
Day 11 of Pride!!
“Favorite Lgbtqia+ historical figure”
One of my favorites is Sappho, shocking I know, mainly ‘cuz she just said ‘screw it’ and made sure to let the world know how gay she was.
The girls from the conjuring 3 were lesbians.
There were the common factors, “close friends”, a scene where they were totally flirting and being lovely with each other. And last but not less, they were “the lovers”.
In the movie it is said, that in order to do the curse, the witch needed to curse 3 people, “The kid” who was David, “the man of god” Ed, and “The lover”, it seems to me they make us believe the lover was Arne, but this is wrong for 2 reason, and the first reason is, Arne is “The kid” because he adsorbed David’s curse, and the second reason, the one that fulfill my theory, is that these girls were cursed before the other characters, they of course weren’t “The kid” or “The man of god”, and the only one left is “The lover”.
Does she count??
Whatever the case, this woman is my spirit animal
For those who don't know, this is the greek poet Sappho.

Share your Pride day 11 (because I forgot): Favourite queer historical figure!
Kind of a cop-out but I really do like Sappho's writing style.
Also, I have Marsha P. Johnson to thank for my existence, so thank you Marsha and all the fearless trans Black women who fought cops for our freedom.
danaë – gustav klimt / if not, winter – sappho, trans. anne carson / danaë – egon schiele

thinking about that greek play that said that sappho’s husband was named “kerkykas of andros” (penis from man island) as an obvious joke and that historians later literally thought she was married to a man because of that
online internet archivists: here is a woman from 60 to 100′s of years ago, who had an unusually fulfilling life and career. We are going to assume you already know that being a woman(and really any nonwhite person, too) was hell then, and you could be beaten for dressing in anything besides hyper feminine clothes or being silent and pretty about your beliefs, so this woman’s choice of dressing in more comfortable clothes, then considered by the laughably conservative society as “men's clothes” was a feminist action in choice of comfort and half-ironic protest!
Queer people on tumblr: what an incredible man...a wonderful Man. Unlike one of those drab oppressed housewife cunts, this ☆Man☆ was a Queere iconne, being a straight man and not being a disgusting 🥶😬😰🤢L-lesb🤮ian🤯 who dressed in masc aligned clothes with a femme twist...this special 1940′s enby was dunking SO HARD on those boring, hyper privileged gays...Woman wear pink and incapable of think hard about politics, so glad that smart man exist to rule. TERFS DONT TOUCH ME OR ILL PUKE
at this point if someone is homophobic tell them to shut the fuck up like their bullshit isn’t worth your time
