Where to purchase a beautiful Kanchipuram saree online?

Isn't it true that sarees are a must have for Indian weddings? Especially if it's a Kanjivaram Silk!!! You're probably wondering where you can buy the lovely Kanchipuram silk saree online. Here at Indian Silk House Exclusives, you'll find it. Any saree lover will be impressed by Kanjivaram Silk's gorgeous collection.

Handweaving of Silk sarees is a Kanchi tradition and comes in various colors and designs. Here in Kanjivaram they use Korvai technique of weaving silk and zari  together to bring out authentic Kanchipuram silk sarees -a must have for weddings

Let us Know about the Kanchipuram saree:

Before opting to buy Kanchipuram silk sarees online, let us know about the history of Kanjivaram. Kanchipuram is a city in Tamil Nadu, India. It is known as the Temple Town because it contains over 1000 temples, including Kanchi Kamakshi Amman and Ekambareswarar. All Kanchipuram Silk Sarees have a lot of traditional value and are dyed and woven with utmost perfection in Kanchipuram. Weavers from Tamil Nadu have been weaving these sarees from generations  and they gained popularity during Krishna Devaraya's reign. The Kanchi silk weavers were said to be descendants of Sage Markanda in Hindu mythology. They were God's weavers, and they wove silk from lotus tissue fiber. Lord Vishnu favored this type of content.

Between the years 985 and 1014, during the Chola Dynasty's reign in South India, the silk trade became a well-known art. The Devangas and the Saligars were two weaving groups that migrated from Andhra Pradesh to Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.

The availability and popularity of silk weaving motivated these weaving cultures, and they joined forces with their silk weaving expertise. In the 15th century, this was the beginning of the silk industry. Weaving silk sarees is still the main occupation of the people who live in and around Kanchipuram today.

     The Process of Weaving:

The pallu and the rest of the saree are usually distinct from one another, and they are traditionally woven separately and only joined later. In reality, a zig-zag pattern is often used to indicate the point where two pieces are joined. Kanjivaram silk is woven with a silver wire using three separate shuttles. Although this increases the fabric's strength and durability, it also increases the weight of the silk saree, making it more than 2 kilograms in total.

Since the pallu and the rest of the saree are woven separately, the colors used are vivid and often contrast. The imagery and sculptures of South Indian temples and depictions of scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata are also used to inspire the motifs on the saree. Kanjivaram sarees often feature Raja Ravi Verma's paintings.

     The way of Styling:

Kanjivaram sarees can be worn in a variety of ways, including as a lehenga by the bride. Women nowadays often wear Kanjivaram sarees with fancy blouses or jackets. Keeping a Kanjivaram saree plain is the best way to style it. For every occasion, a statement gold necklace and dewy, fresh makeup are ideal. The best way to care for a Kanjivaram saree is to keep it in its saree bag and dry clean it.

Since 2005-06, the Government of India has recognized Kanjivaram sarees as a geographical indication. A geographical indication is a label that is applied to goods with a particular geographical origin and has characteristics or a reputation attributed to that origin. These sarees are an essential part of Indian culture and are often passed down through the generations. These sarees are full of history and culture, and they'll help you achieve the perfect ethnic look. You can check out and buy the beautiful Kanchipuram saree online from Indian Silk House Exclusives.
