Okay so I’m rewatching Schitt’s Creek and I’m on season 4, and I just. Have so many emotions. Mainly on 4x11 and 4x12 so I’m gonna be talking about them!
Oh my god. My heart is being shattered in the best possible way.
In 4x11, Alexis goes to tell Ted that she loves him. And when she does, the LOOK on Ted’s face is unreadable, but it says so much. I love how Alexis knows that he’s in a relationship, and she respects that in her confession.
She knows that she’s crossing a bridge that she burned, and she’s not even trying to rebuild it.
Then in the next episode, Alexis talks about how she was wrong for leaving him because he was “too nice” and “he loved her too much”. She talks about how he was her key, and she threw it away.
Ted comes to the café, and it’s a whole new start. He introduces himself, says he’s single, then they kiss.
But before he does that, he talks to David, who knows what Alexis said.
David tells Ted that his name showed up in conversation every day for the past 6 months. He also tells Ted about how Alexis knows that she was in the wrong, but he also talks about how much she’s grown and changed ever since she broke it off. And I love that.
NOW I’m gonna talk about Patrick and David in 4x12.
David comes into the store hauling a huge box to bring to Ted. They start talking and bickering, and Patrick tells David he loves him.
David doesn’t respond, he just says that he hasn’t said that to anyone else besides his parents, and one time at a Mariah Carey concert. Patrick tells him that he doesn’t need to say it right away, it just felt right in the moment.
When David comes back, he finally does tell Patrick those three words, and it’s just such a perfect moment.
What I love about this moment is that Patrick understands. He understands that David isn’t ready. He understands that he needs time. And he’s willing to give that to David.
