So I’ve had around 20 people ask me what the TMS machine is like.
Here you go. It’s like a very loud embroidery machine 2 inches from your ear.
Also, (1) ignore the weird half swollen eye. I didn’t sleep well. (2) there’s just no good selfie angle this close up. (3) if you’re depressed, I hope you seek out each and every treatment that might help you.
As always, please remember that you aren’t alone. If you feel ashamed, silly, unnoticed, fearful, dramatic, worthless, ignored, pained, empty, lonely, stupid, small, insignificant, unloved, ridiculous, anxious, overwhelmed, unappreciated, ugly, absurd, or any other negative emotion out there…you aren’t alone. And you’re brave as hell if you face it every day. I don’t know if TMS will be a permanent fix for me. I don’t know I’ll reach the highest peak of the mountain. I don’t know if I’ll be back in the valley of darkness again. But I do know fighting is brave and the kindest thing you can do for yourself. And I know we should always be kind to ourselves even when depression doesn’t want us to be. And depression never wants us to be kind.
To invert a verse from the Bible.
“Depression is not patient. Depression is not kind. Depression boasts. It is proud. It dishonors others, it is self-seeking, it is easily angered, it keeps every record of wrongs. Depression delights in evil, but denigrates the truth. It never protects, never trusts, never hopes, never perseveres. Depression never wins”
You got this. I promise.
(Even if it means drilling magnetic pulses into your head very loudly for 3 months).
