  • Lactation cookies are working!!! (Which is great because they never have in the past!)

2 ½ ounces at 3am is unheard of for me! Fingers crossed we can keep up with this boy and don’t have to supplement.

And he is good! Ian took Leo to the cardiologist today and everything checked out great. They had a tiny blood pressure cuff, he had EKG and ultra sound, and he is a healthy little boy.

He was very good and patient. A little kid before him was screaming like crazy and had Ian nervous, but Leo is a champ. Got a token to put in the toy machine and got a bouncy ball. That went right in his mouth.

We need to get Mad double checked, and Ian needs to find a cardiologist here. But so far, so good for the Porters.

  • god I’m tired. today was mixed I guess. started off good but the rest not so much. I woke up to my alarm at 10:30 and got ready for my first session with my church’s new “justice center” initiative, allowing low-income people receive a consultation with a lawyer on whatever legal issue they were facing, and now was my first shift as a lawyer on it. It felt silly afterwards because I was getting really anxious about if I would know what to do or to screw up, but once we actually got in there and started talking I was like oh, I know how to do this no problem haha so I felt good about that and we were able to set up a plan for the client to come back in a few weeks and have us review what she’d written based on the information we gave her today. so that was from 11-12 pm and then a short group meeting afterwards just to check in, which all went fine. after that I was struggling with my desire to be productive, I did some work for a bit because I have to deal with a motion filed by the other side on Monday and while I have full confidence we will prevail one way or another, I’d obviously prefer for it to be sooner rather than later, and having the text of the relevant portion of the statue on hand is definitely helpful. but yeah, there wasn’t all that much after that. I watched some Psych for a bit, and I was like about to go clean my kitchen to be at least somewhat productive with the like, 5 things I wanted to get done this weekend, but then some friends were messaging about wanting to play this online game so I was like sure okay why not, so I did that for a bit, but like every other game that involves one or two people being the bad actors and the main point of the game was to find them, I was repeatedly being put in that situation, and I mean like the we played the other game like this I was pretty entertained because it was a controlled environment, this was a game I didn’t know how to play and could barely even function as a character, and then suddenly everybody’s piling on me about it and gloating and like, I just wasn’t having fun at all. after I think the 4th round of me being the designated bad person (several rounds had 2 bad people but I was always one of them) I was just kinda like well fuck this I’m really enjoying myself, but I don’t want to be a party pooper, so I just said I had to go clean my kitchen and logged off. And the whole thing just put me in a really shitty mood for the rest of the night, and I really couldn’t make myself actually do anything productive. I don’t really know why I was getting so worked up about it because I knew I shouldn’t be reacting like this, but I still started tearing up right after I left and feeling like I wanted to go bury my head in a pillow and cry. Ugh. I guess I just irritated because I still really didn’t know how to play the damn game and then when I’m legit trying to figure the damn thing out I’m just getting laughed at and cheered that I had lost, and like, I know none of them meant any harm by it or anything like that, I just couldn’t do that today.and I didn’t want to cause an actual scene or anything so I just made a neutral excuse and left. sigh. so that kind of put a damper on the rest of the night, so I just watched more Psych mainly and then eventually showering and starting to get ready for bed, and now I’m here and it’s past 2 am and I’m seriously having issues keeping my eyes open at the moment so I’ll end this here. Goodnight babes. Hope you had an awesome (and better than mine) Saturday.

  • Is it really the end of week three already? Time seems to be going so fast! @dissidia-writeblr Sitara was really fun!

    ###

The balcony door led to a short hallway, or maybe a lobby that ended in a long receptionist-looking desk. Few people milled about, but the space was far from empty. More of those little robots from outside whirred around the high ceilings with little messages and packages in their grasp. Volt’s footsteps echoed softly against the hard walls, Richard’s softer at her shoulder. He seemed to look everywhere but straight ahead, attention drawn by anything that moved. The sensitive antenna by his ears quivered and flexed as he probably picked up sounds she had no chance of hearing herself. Despite the ever present nerves bundled tight in her chest, Volt’s shoulders relaxed. If there were to be any surprises it was highly unlikely they would get past Richard undetected. Even if his infrared systems were broken and his zoom-lens eye had busted years ago, she could always count on him to pick up on hidden dangers.

She stopped in front of the desk, and matched the smile of the man behind it. “Hello, we’re looking for someone called Sitara? Will and Zero sent us.”

“Oh, she should be in the workshop right now.” The receptionist stood up from his chair and pointed down a smaller side hallway. “Just head down the hall there and it’ll be the door all the way at the other end.”
