It’s SO good to get out into the field again! Here’s part of what the latest investigation uncovered. A classic fitted-sheath design, which we still see a lot of on the market, always flattering and always in style. So, what makes this one stand out amongst those that are on the racks today?

Foam Blade Sheath
This has been a slow-burn project for a while. I had plans for a design, changed plans multiple times, and eventually just went “fuck it” and went ahead because I wanted it finished. Overall I’m pretty happy with it.
The blade I’d one I’ve had for a while, purely decorative, but I wanted a sheath for it anyways. Even if it is just an eva foam one! I still need to figure out a belt attachment for it eventually, but meh. It’s done. I’ll probably just used some leather straps and tie it.

0Quick little afternoon project to practice some weathering and finishing ideas. Belt sheath for a small knife. Bees wax and burnishing on the edges, mixed dye and chems on the finish, general wear via chisels and sandpaper, extra antiquing gel well layered on top of it all

It’s not the first time I’ve made a sheath for a blade that was not actually in my possession, but it’s always kind of nerve-wracking. We’ll see how well I did on christmas, I suppose!
At some point I’ll prolly do a tutorial on how to pattern a sheath when you don’t have the knife/axe with you in person, and how to get the proper measurements from the client.
