In less than 3 months the Russian Figure Skating Federation will announce their National Team for the next - Olympic season! It is going to be a really though decision, especially in the women category. These are the main candidates:Anna Scherbakova, Alexandra Trusova, Aliona Kostornaya, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva + Kamila Valieva, Daria Usacheva, Maiia KromykhIn total, there are 8 candidates. But! Big but! Don’t forget Evgenia Medvedeva, who said herself she wants to compete next season and also don’t forget Alina Zagitova, who haven’t competed this season too, but she is the reigning Olympic champion (and also World champion), which guarantees her spot in the National Team, which makes it total of 9 candidates. There are 6 main spots in the women category (+3 spots in the reserve). These are the requirements for making the main team:performance shown during the seasonthe complexity and prospects of competitive programspositive dynamics of the results shown in the season and in the years of the Olympic cyclestability of performances and competitive reliabilitythe level of special technical and physical preparednessthe level of choreographic readinesspsychological stabilitythe level of motivation and focus on achieving maximum resultspromising perspective of the athleteLooking at this past season, I think that only Anna, Sasha and Kamila have their spots guaranteed. We will have to wait and see who of the two - Aliona and Liza - will go to the Worlds and which place will they take. Also, Aliona is the reigning European and GPF champion, so she will probably have a spot in the main team, but with her results of this season it’s not for 100%, since there are also Daria and Maiia, who have shown very good results, given the circumstantes. So what is your opinion? Who do you think will be on the MAIN team and who will be in the reserve?
