literally thinking about how, after they’ve both been revived, tommy both follows wilbur’s guidance but also still thinks he’s the one who has to look out for him instead of the other way around? because of pogtopia? like he doesn’t quite trust him, but he still wants to believe he’s changed. maybe the wilbur tommy knew died long before the 16th (but maybe he didn’t, crows a voice inside him that just refuses to die. maybe he didn’t, maybe he didn’t.) but he still has hope. so post-revived crime boys has this weird, off-beat thing where tommy still wants to follow wilbur, not because he trusts him, but because because it’s just a little bit easier to slip into old habits even if they don’t fit anymore. because wilbur might still have good in him. because this time, tommy’s gonna try harder to save him. because this time, he might be enough.
so tommy thinks, “i hate you, you burned down my country, you’re the reason i lost my home, you’re the reason i lost everything.” but he still gathers stone, he still goes with him to las nevadas, he still helps him out. so, he also thinks, “wilbur’s changed, right?” and “let me just do what i’m told.” he thinks, “maybe it was me. maybe i didn’t do enough. maybe if i’d done more you wouldn’t have done what you did. maybe none of this would’ve happened. and i still look at you and i can’t forget the person you used to be. and deep down, under everything, maybe i just miss you.”
