Regarding the last post, that video has a ton of comments showing the contrast between Jevil and Spamton and why Spamton is such a tragic character. I love seeing that analysis!
To be fair, that just proves how good Toby's writing is.

On the question of “so is Kris the Roaring Knight or not?”, I hold a very strong neutral position. My answer is a very resounding “I don’t know!” because is clearly supposed to be an ongoing mystery going forwards in the Deltarune narrative.
The ending raises the possibility, but does so in a way that avoids giving us any definitive evidence. Like yes, the mere fact that we’ve seen Kris open a Dark Fountain on-camera and they’ve been clearly Up to Something last night makes them the ‘most likely suspect’. But we’ve only seen them open the Fountain after they’ve heard Queen explain how a Dark Fountain is created, and it’s STILL entirely possible that all they did last night was eat pie. I mean, the fact that they were so tired that they slept through the entire school day maybe suggest otherwise... but also are you really gonna argue that a teenager being sleep-deprived is a definitive proof that they’ve been up all night summoning pillars of pure darkness to create pocket-dimensions of magical whimsy? I mean just the fact that they’re the most likely suspect might actually make them the least likely suspect? Like, is this twist too obvious?
With only two sevenths of the story available to us so far, basically nothing is definitive. There’s so many twists and turns this story can take, so many plot ideas that haven’t been introduced yet... I mean, if I time-traveled to when the Undertale Demo was released and said “Okay, so my Undertale Theory is......... Flowey is Toriel’s biological son. I am 100% sure this is gonna be the case”, people will think that’s bonkers. Because none of the plot-elements related to that twist have been even hinted at during that point of the story. So like... Deltarune Chapter 3 could end with a seemingly definitive reveal that Kris IS the Knight and than Chapter 5 could introduce a plot device that would make it literally physically impossible and than Chapter 7 could introduce a different plot device that will make it likely again but than at the end ALSO officially deconfirm Kris being the Knight. Or maybe the opposite could happen!
I mean, that arguably also apply to most aspects of the story that I feel more confident about, like my read on Ralsei’s character or the relationship between Light and Dark (although not absolutely confident. I’m also aware the story could take a left-turn twist on those as well). But I guess at the end of the day I’m just not that confident or attached to my read of Kris’ character and their role in the story. And especially when there’s so many possible reasons WHY Kris could be acting as the Roaring Knight, and some of them fit pretty well with my read on their personality and some of them really really do not fit at all.
So basically for me, whatever Kris or is not the Roaring Knight depending on whatever or not it fits with the current larger theory I’m working on or if it just makes it funnier.
However, I do want to point out that as much as Deltarune Chapter 2 did not give us definitive proof of Kris being the Knight - it also didn’t give us definitive proof of Kris NOT being the Knight, either. Like I said, it’s clearly supposed to be an ongoing mystery that can go either way right now.
Namely, what I want to address is this argument I keep seeing:
“If Kris is the Roaring Knight, how comes none of the characters who have interacted with the Knight don’t recognize Kris right away?”
To which my answer is:
“Do we actually know ANYONE who has interacted with the Roaring Knight? Like, for sure?”
The only characters who speak about the Knight at length are the final bosses and bonus bosses of each world we have seen so far, so that’s King, Queen, Jevil and Spamton. Other characters only really bring the Knight up in relation to their ruler's connection to the Knight.
So let’s start with looking at how Queen talks about the Knight. She basically only talks about what the Knight did - the creation of the Dark Fountain
There is basically no talk of something the Knight said to her or ordered her or indicated to her personally. In fact, she specifically said she cooked up her plan guessing based on the Knight’s actions.
There is basically zero indication that Queen and the Knight have met face-to-face in her dialogue. As far as we know, all of her knowledge of the Knight comes purely from the “Birth of a Fountain” video, which is described as having too much smoke and darkness to see who the Knight really is.
Jevil was still imprisoned when the Knight visited the Card Kingdom, I think we can safety assume that all of his knowledge of the Knight comes from Crazy Clown Magic and he probably never actually seen the Knight face-to-face.
Spamton seem to know something about the Knight, but, again, nothing necessarily says that has to have met the Knight face-to-face. Especially since ‘talking on the phone’ is kinda Spamton’s whole thing.
King is the Big One for me. At first I was like “okay, from Queen’s dialogue it seems likely that she has never talked with the Knight in person , but King did, right? They fought in King’s throne room - and King swore his alliance to the Knight after they defeated him in a duel? Right? Didn’t King say that, right?”
But I re-checked all of King’s dialogue and this is never stated. I think it was just a popular headcanon when Chapter 1 came out and I misremembered it as canon. In reality, we don’t know why King’s throne room has been recently damaged ‘in a struggle’ (it might be just during the coupe over the other three Kings, or something we just don’t know yet). And King’s dialogue is very vague in terms of what he knows about the Knight.
Like, it feels like he must be more familiar with them than Queen is, because he seems to consider himself a servant of the Knight and how could he be that without even knowing the Knight’s goals? But… that doesn’t necessitate them meeting face-to-face. There are multiple methods of communication that don’t involve seeing the other person’s face. Especially considering Kris has been so quiet during their battle with King, so he wouldn’t necessarily recognize their voice.
And…. Maybe that’s not right either . Maybe King is exactly like Queen. He witnessed the Knight raise the Dark Fountain and just assumed that they’re doing it for reasons he agrees with it and so decided to ‘swear allegiance’ to them to advance the goals HE wanted in their name?
Seam and the Four Former Kings in Chapter 1 also bring up the Knight briefly and they’re basically the only ones to implicitly mention the Knight doing anything outside of just appearing and creating Fountains. They both imply that the Knight is responsible for the three of them being overthrown and locked away:
But the ‘how’ of the situation isn’t given more detail. The Knight seems to be the cause of King’s coupe, but we aren’t told if “the Knight appeared and the three kings were locked away” means “the Knight has personally fought the Kings and put them in the cage and so they should recognize Kris on sight if they were the Knight”, or “the Knight has ordered King or another follower of theirs to lock the Three Kings away”, or “King decided that overthrowing the other Kings must be the Knight’s will because that’s basically what he wanted to do anyway but he needed the excuse”
There’s kinda, like, a religious motif here? Especially since Hometown seems to be a kinda religious community and Kris comes from a very religious household. With King even using the term “Holy Fountains” and the Dark Fountains’ theme being called “The Holy”.
The Roaring Knight is basically the creator-deity of the Dark Worlds, and the rulers might have just looked at them from afar and went “why did they decide to make this Fountain? And this World? It must because of Something I Already Ideologically Agree With! I must help them!”. Like, King projected on them his anger and resentment towards Lightners and his thirst for power - Queen projected on them her genuine desire to help Lightners and her superiority complex. They’re a God, but also just a blank slate for people to project their own intentions and plans unto. It’s a bit like....
It connects with the whole idea of “No one can choose who they are in this world”. No one can choose, even a being that can create whole worlds out of their force of will- can have an identity forced upon them by their so-called followers.
I guess the big question that comes out of this argument is “if the Knight didn’t actually interact in depth with anyone, how do people know to call them the Knight?”. But I think there’s plenty of simple solutions for this question. Again, there’s plenty of ways to communicate without showing up face-to-face - especially if all you’re conveying is how you want people to call you.
There’s also the possibility that “Roaring Knight” is just the Darkner term to anyone who creates a Dark Fountain. Which might be the implication of this part of Queen’s dialogue:
“Make a new one”, meaning to make a new ‘Knight’.. by making Noelle willing to make more Dark Fountains for her. It’s a bit vague to know for sure if that’s the implications or not... but they sure will complicate the whole “is Kris the Knight?” debate. Because on one hand, if Knight = every person who makes a Dark Fountain, then Kris is unambiguously a Knight.
But not only are we still not sure if they’re the Knight who created the Cyber World and Card Kingdom Dark Fountains.... there could be separate Knights who created those Fountains too! But that’s a whole complicated discussion to save for another day.
The point is that “is Kris the Knight?” is very intentionally left as a question that can go either way. There’s nothing definitive that says that they ARE but there’s also nothing definitive that say that they AREN’T. And whatever Kris is the Knight or not, I think it’s worth considering how much the Darkners ACTUALLY know about that ‘Knight’, because it has some interesting thematic implication even if it ends up having nothing to do with Kris.
