Hello fellow therians! If you didn't know, Halloween is coming soon! This could be your chance to express yourself the most, dress up as your theriotype! Sadly, I can't because my parents won't let me do any trick or treating this year. Or dress up really- But never fear! If you can't dress up, wear something else! I'm considering crafting some floppy dog ears~!
Have a spooky October! 👻
Spooky Video Game Music No. 239: Subcon Forest- A Hat in Time (PS4/Xbox One/Switch/PC/Steam)
Throughout your journey in A Hat in Time, you play as Hat Girl who must find these hourglasses to power up her spaceship. You travel through different stages to find them. From a sea bound town run by a mafia to a movie studio owned by 2 feuding birds and a huge alpine mountain, it’s got it all. One place that is quite popular is Subcon Forest. A huge spooky forest that was once a kingdom, it is the home of some citizens in a small village, the adorable Fire Spirits, a haunted manor where a ghostly queen lives, and a toilet. It is also the home of a monster named Snatcher, who won’t let you leave unless you fulfill his contract…
For a cartoony game, this song sure ain’t fooling around at being spooky. It gives the feeling of being alone at a haunted forest. The midi notes throughout the song brings a unsettling atmosphere like you’re not alone in the forest. Some parts of the song have a silent choir singing which does sense of hope and you don’t have to worry about what’s going on. This song does remind me of the Twilight Trail from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (No. 212), even right down to the similar sounding instruments and given that song also sounds unsettling, it also works here too. Cartoony games sure know how to be scarier than most horror games these days. 🎃
He blinks, and blinks, as he stares at his own body, everything growing out of focus as he stares and stares at the blood pooling underneath the body- the corpse that he once inhabited. He heaves, falling onto the floor, shaking and trembling, looking at his hands, that shift and shift, no longer the human part they were supposed to be. His own form is rippling, like the disturbed water of a once peaceful pond, twisting and becoming, like a horrific form of metamorphosis, as he watches what once was become nothing at all. He closes his eyes, the two, three, six, eleven, a thousand eyelids closing, as he lets it go, all fear and similar draining out of him, as he feels the shifting start to slow down, not as brutal as before.
Phil closes his eyes, and Philza opens them, breathing, once again.
The player's body is not made to withstand the World. The changes are imperceptible at first glance, the Universe's attempt in assimilating those it loves... In Hardcore, however, the changes can get... a bit drastic.
OR: After Phil's death in his second hardcore World something... changes within himself. The blood god can sometimes not only be a phrase...

What you Might Experience While Taking out the Trash
You've waited until late at night, only just remembering that you left the recycling and the garbage cans sitting in the carport. You shrug on your coat and boots, stepping into the still night. You really should have taken it out this morning.
The moment you pass out from beneath the carport, hauling the cans across the driveway, the streetlamps flicker and burst leaving you in darkness. A soft humming fills the air. They did not expect anyone to be out this late, but they are pleased to see you. They were just about to start a game.
A lone streetlamp will flicker, just for a moment but it is enough to illuminate the hulking, writhing thing that is lumbering down the street towards you. It might be screaming or it might be laughing but its steps shake the ground and it is beginning to run.
There are bones buried beneath your front yard. It was not you who put them there but it is the rain that is drudging them up like worms. You watch as a skeletal hand twitches by your ankle, fingers curling around the laces of your boots. Do you shake it off? Remember, if you're cold, they're cold. Bring it inside.
A raven alights on the lid of one of the cans, cocking its head just slightly. "You are being watched," it says, "return inside. It is not safe out here." You would, but there is still the recycling to bring out.
When you are finally finished, you turn back towards your house and notice a figure hunched on the roof above your doorway. Long strings dangle from their fingers, creating a fine, silver curtain between you and the door. They're eyes are bright as they watch you. "Come," they whisper, and their voice is like a deep pulse in your ears, "Step into my web."
The trees shift and you can see something emerging from between the branches. Something glowing and gold. You argue with yourself, telling yourself that it is the neighbor's dog, desperate for some level of normalcy. But when you see the skull emerging from the creature's mouth, and hear the way it wails and chortles, you know that normalcy is not something that the night provides.
The revving of engines drowns the songs and the laughter of the creatures in your trees. You are immediately blinded by the headlight of a motorcycle. What sits atop it, though, is not the obnoxious night rider you had expected. No, this thing reaches out a hand, its twelve long fingers adorned with strange twisting rings, and tries to snatch at you. "Wanna go for a ride," it asks and you are immediately filled with dread. You refuse and race towards your basement door. You do not feel its horrible, dripping eyes leave you until you are back inside.
Once you are safely inside, you fall atop your couch with a sigh. Maybe you should put the trash out earlier, you think. Yes, perhaps that is for the best. A floorboard creeks down the hall and you sit up, fully alert. Did you-? You idiot, did you bring a piece of the night back into your house with you!?
guys I am genuinely afraid to get into Big Finish’s Torchwood range because me getting invested in a range is usually bad news for it. I know that probably sounds dramatic but when you consider the fact that my top three ranges are Companion Chronicles, Early Adventures, and Short Trips, you start to understand why that’s such a concern of mine
The Adventures of Pete & Pete 1994 Halloween special is the topic of today’s episode. In S02E07 Halloweenie Big Pete is torn between outgrowing once beloved Halloween traditions and supporting his brother Little Pete in breaking their local trick-or-treating record. If the Pumpkin Eaters have their way this will be the last Halloween ever.
