SPREAD EAGLE-PREACHER MAN
I first got into this album after listening to a cassette sampler my dad gave to me.
The cassette sampler was really interesting because it included songs from the first and second album, and in between the songs, the band discussed the backstory of the songs.
After I heard the songs on that sampler, I wanted to hear the album.
The album is fantastic. I’ll never understand how people looked at 1990s hard rock acts as being identical, purely because there were a number of bands in this genre, all of which weren’t properly promoted.
Lack of promotion doesn’t affect great bands, because every truly great band is underrated and people find them. The industry promotes what will sell, and ignores what doesn’t because it’s not like everything else. After all, how can you get an audience if you don’t sound like everyone else??
Spread Eagle is one of the many bands who were great because they were different.
Essential Tracks: Preacher Man, Rhythm Machine, If I Can’t Have You …
