LETTERS LIVE FROM THE ARCHIVE: UNION CHAPEL
Since first taking to the pulpit at the Union Chapel in July 2017 Letters Live have sold out 8 shows there and presented audiences with captivating performances from the likes of Olivia Colman, Colin Firth, Michael Palin, Helen McCrory, Benedict Cumberbatch, Nick Cave, Damian Lewis, Zawe Ashton, Rob Brydon, Amanda Abbington, Louise Brealey, Kristin Scott Thomas, Elizabeth Debicki, Ian McShane, Celia Imrie and many others.
“I want you to have at least three [fingers] on each hand. Otherwise I start to panic.”
-Sue Perkins
James Acaster reminds me of a lapdog; usually looks three seconds away from dissociating, has the Piercing Eyes Of Barely-Contained Bloodlust, his speech pattern goes in little sections like a tiny dog’s barking, and he just has the body language of “I am Small but I am a Wolf and I will not hesitate to kill you.”
In contrast, Ed Gamble looks like a big blocky-headed mutt, like a dog that has vague features of the breeds in its background; doe-eyes from a golden retriever, big floppy scenthound ears, maybe some great dane? He’s just a good, chill lad.
Jon Richardson is an Italian greyhound. Tiny, nervous, awkward, and Must Have Routine.
Sue Perkins is a golden retriever I will not be taking questions.
Sandi Toksvig is a wise bull terrier whose humor is like getting nipped by a playful pupper who knows how much pressure they can get away with. She is stern-faced but also very trustworthy. When was the last time you looked at Sandi Toksvig and felt anything other than warmth?
David Mitchell is a cat.
Sue Perkins: Harry has beautiful hair and a great way about
him. I always look at him - and he’s stunning to look at - and I go ‘Oh
God, a son like that…’. That’s how old I am now.
Alan Cumming: Well, I’m still like 'I’d do him’.
Sue: [laughing] I know THAT. That was never out of the question.
My ideal Taskmaster lineup (excluding those who have already appeard on the show):
• Milton Jones
• Alan Davies
• Sue Perkins
• Sandi Toksvig
• Adam Hills
Look, mate, we’re just trying to do our job. Why don’t we pull you up, you can get warm, and then we can kill you in a civilized manner?
HITMEN (2020—)
OK, I signed up for Peacock just because they have the Sue and Mel sitcom “Hitmen” only to discover that everything else after episode one is only available with a Peacock Premium subscription. GRR! Why couldn’t Hitmen have gone to Hulu, Netflix, or BritBox?
