When light encounters a strong magical field it loses all sense of urgency. It slows right down. And on the Discworld the magic was embarrassingly strong, which meant that the soft yellow light of dawn flowed over the sleeping landscape like the caress of a gentle lover or, as some would have it, like golden syrup. — Terry Pratchett, The Light Fantastic
Today, 25th May, we remember Douglas Adams and Sir Terry Pratchett, who changed my world and left it too soon.
Using lockdown time wisely
These drawings are included in “The Ankh-Morpork Archives” as “Associates” of the Post Office. Although Miss Dearheart being called an “Associate” is certainly true since after the events of “Going Postal” the Grand Trunk and the PO are allies, it’s funny that this is the only mention of her and NO mention is made of her being “associated” with Moist more…personally, hehe.
Anyway it’s nice to see these more background characters getting illustrated, like the Uprights who definitely look like they could kick ass, and Mr. Spools who was instrumental in the creation of stamps. And it’s also nice Mr Pony gets put in this category, since he did end up helping in the end. I forget if he’s ever really mentioned after Going Postal but I imagine with Adora Belle running things he’d be happy to stay on as an engineer or an advisor for the Trunk.

Does anyone know where the idea of “arsenic candles” comes from? The Howard Holmes series does it in series 4 and Terry Pratchett did it in Feet of Clay.
This is the background picture. I started reading the book in period that was difficult for me with several other different books. It was even before I knew that there was going to be a television show with my favorite doctor was going to be in it. This is one of many of drawings of Aziraphale and Crowley that I have done after seeing the show.
Libby just let me grab “Equal Rites” so now I know I have a good book to read
So I love stand up comedy. This is based off this Ron White comedy bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2hCd1_k1vI. The whole thing is great but I specifically used 3:07 - 3:40. You ever have a picture that just DOESN’T WANT TO WORK? Yeah that was this comic. I struggled with the sketches. I struggled with the line art. I struggled with his hair. I STRUGGLED WITH HIS DAMN SUNGLASSES
they still look awful but I just gave up. So by the time I got to coloring I was just so done lol. Also ignore the shitty backgrounds I can’t do backgrounds to save my life.
This took way longer than it should have, please show me some love so it was actually worth it -sobs-
Here’s some of the good old guys who came back to the Post Office when Moist reopened it, as illustrated by Paul Kidby. We all know Mr Groat, whose help has been invaluable.
George Aggy was the ‘Worshipful Master’ during Moist’s
hazing induction as Post Master, and wears armor on one of his legs as protection against dogs. Jimmy Tropes and Senior Postman Bates also helped with the ceremony and went right back out to work once Moist passed all the tests.

“Chaos is found in greatest abundance wherever order is being sought. It always defeats order, because it is better organized. No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away…”
*through tears* All the little angels rise up, rise up, how do they rise up -
John Keel, Sally von Humpeding, A.E. Pessimal, Igor
I finally scanned my Discworld Inktober drawings from last year, because I’m getting them printed into a zine! Character #21 was John Keel, who I had to include even though he technically barely shows up in person, and then I moved on to folks who were heavily featured in Thud! Technically, Igor is in both The Fifth Elephant and Night Watch, but I think I accidentally forgot him when I was drawing up my list for the month… But all’s well that ends well, because he turned out to be one that I had a lot of fun with when it came to little details.
(The Kickstarter has been successfully funded! If you’re interested in getting a copy of the zine for yourself, the project page now essentially allows you to pre-order it, plus some fun extras if future stretch goals are unlocked…)
