Today was a nice day off. I sort if wish I didn’t volenteer for that shift at the science center tomorrow because I wanna be lazy. But I am glad I’ll be doing something productive. Continue the trend. Today was full of productivity.

I slept okay enough. I had a nice morning with James. I didn’t want him to leave. But he had to go to work. He took a couple minutes to put air in my tires and headed out.

I chilled. Just hung out and enjoyed sitting with my heating pad and watching a show. I felt real cute today. Just good. I made and ordered sine stickers. I was having fun. I didnt want to just be home today though. It was to beautiful out for that.

I bundled up but forgot my scarf. I saw Mr Will for a minute and then biked down to fells point. My neck was very cold though. I would end up going to goodwill when I got down there and bought a scarf. Its cute and im glad I got it even if it was just something I needed cause I was cold.

I had a good time walking around down there. There was an eggnog crawl thing and peopke were dressed like trees and that was cute. I continued to try to find a new hat for James. But no luck.

I had lunch at the tavern. The bartender was really nice. And the couple next to me were funny. I had a good lunch and listened to my podcast. I was feeling good.

I biked back towards home. I went to Eddie’s for bagels. And then over to blick to see my James.

I bought a bunch of stuff for my class. Paints and glue. And James had me bring a bunch of stuff he bought home for presents. So I had a lot to carry. And on my way back I found some old roses. They made me smile.

I got back home and was very overheated. I tried to cool off and put a few things away before I headed out again. I ran into Mr Will and Ms Tina and it was nice to see them. They are both so nice.

I went to MICA’s art sale. Support some friends. Get some presents. I got myself the cookest knife scarf and some earrings. But mostly I got gifts. I had a good time looking around and people complimented my very puffy coat. Also there was a very old dog there who was very sweet. I had an excellent time.

I left there and went home to chill for a while. I did some christnas wrapping. Still have some people to buy for. But I am happy with the progress.

I was tired though. I chilled on the couch for an hour. Until it was tine to go meet James.

While I was sitting outside blick some guy tried to sell me drugs. Which made me laugh. But then James was there and we headed to the harbor.

It was nice being down there. Seeing boats all lit up. And the Christmas stuff was cute. We met up with his friend and walked around. I hated the crowds though and wanted to be away from that. So me and his friend sat outside and James got us a pretzel and some fries to share. And we hung out outside and walked around. Then walked to his friend’s place which is very cute. And we played with their cat for a little before we went home.

I washed my hair when we got back here. And now were hanging out on the couch. I am looking forward to sleep. I hope it comes easy tonight. For you all too. Goodnight everyone

Author Adam Minter remembers two periods of grief after his mother died in 2015: the intense sadness of her death, followed by the challenge of sorting through what he calls “the material legacy of her life.”

Over the course of a year, Minter and his sister worked through their mother’s possessions until only her beloved china was left. Neither one of them wanted to take the china — but neither could bear to throw it out. Instead, they decided to donate it.

Waiting in the donation line at Goodwill, Minter began wondering what would happen to the dishes: “It occurred to me this is a very interesting subject,” he says. “Nobody really knew what happened beyond the donation door at Goodwill.”

Minter had spent nearly two decades reporting on the waste and recycling industries. Now he began looking into the market for secondhand goods, both domestically and in Africa and Asia.

“Your average thrift store in the United States only sells about one-third of the stuff that ends up on its shelves,” he says. “The rest of the stuff ends up somewhere else.”

‘The Best Thing You Can Do Is Not Buy More Stuff,’ Says 'Secondhand’ Expert

Today was a nice day off. But it was so grey and rainy out. And that made me very sleepy. I did have that nap I wanted and I even worked in my studio. It was a good day off.

I slept okay last night. James let me sleep in late. And I woke up around 10. Which distressed me a little. I don’t like being asleep that late but I needed it.

But then all day I was just a little off. I feel pretty good right now. But I am sure I wasnt a ton of fun. But I still enjoyed being with James.

He made breakfast and we left around 11. I just wanted I sit down for a little. And James was cool with that so we chilled and left after I finished eating.

We went out to the county to go to a couple thrift store. And I had a lot of fun looking around. I got a new game about fortune telling. And a silly fake candle shaped like a gourd shaped like a ducked. We were supposed to be looking for curtains but didn’t have luck at the first store.

I did get a couple dresses and a shirt. All cute and make me feel good. We also go his parents a vhs player. I hope it works for them.

We went to two more stores. Eventually found curtains. And I found the exact same brown boots I broke when we moved. The ones I tore through the side. I’m excited even if they need a little repair. The soles fell off. But they are totally fixable and I’m excited.

I had a good time just walking around with James. Getting deals. Even though the weather was horrible and driving on the highway was a little scary.

We went to the last goodwill but we didn’t get anything there. I sort of lost steam. And so we went to get food.

We stopped at taco bell. I got my food and it was very good. Then we stopped at pop eyes for James. Got that sandwich. And then we drove to his parents.

His mom and sister were watching the game. Charlotte is apparently very into nail art so she was doing that. It was nice to be sitting together and hanging but I was also real tired.

So eventually James took me home. And once we put everything away and put our new curtains and Christmas wreath up I laid down!

I slept until like 530. And felt kind of horrible. But I forced myself to get up. James was making pasta and soon friends would be coming. James headed out to pick up Brandon and I stayed home to wait.

I cleaned myself up and started working in my studio. I got my giveaway on Instagram ready. I painted for a little while.

Once friends were here I hung out for a little. But then I went I work in my studio. I made a gift for someone. I sewed. I picked out outfits for the week. And now I’m chilling in bed.

I’m going to watch some video and get ready for bed. The group is still all playing in the other room. I hope they are having fun. I have a long day of work tomorrow. So I hope I don’t feel sick. I hope you all have a good night. Sleep good.

Today was excellent. I am glad to get to spend some time with my family. And I’m really glad I made it here safe.

My bus finally came last night at 8. There was some intense stress right before the bus came because of a miscommunication and a misread text message with James. But I got a seat at the front and it was fine.

The girl next to me kept elbowing me. But she was stressed and I got it. It was still a pretty good ride. There was so rain. I won a furby. It was fine. And I got to Philly just as dad was getting there so I didn’t have to wait long.

It was so nice to see him. We got home after a really nice ride and a good conversation. We all sat on us living room and talked and discussed. It was fun. Dad went to sleep and me and mom stayed up past 1. Oops.

I went to sleep around 2. And slept really well. I woke up at 9 and got dressed. Checked in with mom and we decided to go out at 10. So I went on my room and hung out.

We had breakfast at friendlies. I enjoyed mom’s company very much. And then we went to goodwill.

I had a lot of fun there. I didn’t find a cover-up for the wedding but that’s okay. I did find some other clothes. But mostly I enjoyed searching for weird stuff to take pictures of. Lots of silly stuff today.

We went to target next. I found a scarf to use as a cover-up. I got juice. It was nice to just walk around though.

But we were both getting tired. So we went home.

I packed up my new things. Decided that I would leave some stuff here. And then I laid down to watch videos for a while. And then at 330 got up to get dressed up again.

Me and mom left to go to chestnut hill for my opening. We had a nice ride out. And had to ask a child where the gallery was on campus. But we found it and parked and it was great. The show was beautifully curated. And I got to talk to some really interested people. Be silly. Eat snacks. And then one of my sculptures sold!? I’m thrilled. It made me want to like. Actually make work to show. And now just keep it all in my studio. I also really need to update my website. That will be a goal for my days off. Getting to the library to use the computer.

We left there around 630 and eventually stopped at wawa for a sandwich. I had a headache but it’s gone now. When we got home I had my sandwich and then took a bath.

I’m listening to a scary story now. And I’m drinking apple cider. I am having a really excellent day. And I’m looking forward to tomorrow and seeing my boyfriend and a long car ride. Itl be a really good weekend. I can feel it. Cause its already happening.

Goodnight everyone. Take care of each other. Do something kind. Step on a crunchy leaf.

  • Thrifting is Thrifty!

Whenever you have items of clothing or old tapes or music discs or books that you no longer want, remember to donate to your local thrift shops and secondhand bookstores. Give these items new life and help a fellow individual out. As the adage goes, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure!

  • While on vacation I went to a bunch of thrift stores, mostly looking for a couple pitchers I like enough to bring into my home to use to water my plants. Instead I found 2 matching decorative bottles and a mortar and pestle!

Not the highest things on my looking for list but they all caught my eye and sparked some excitement. I was especially excited to finally find a decent  second hand mortar and pestle (it looks like marble to me) at a good price. I have been looking for one off and on for awhile for some witchy projects I have in mind.
