DRIPPY AMITY for da warm up
DRIPPY AMITY for da warm up
If season 2 isn’t gonna feed me I’ll do it myself
had a little Boscha rant and now I’m just absolutely full of indignation and analysis about one of my absolute favorite toh characters. (honestly prolly second only to Vee) so here we go analysis post time.
The thing about Boscha is that the world through her eyes is so wildly different than the world through the perspective of literally any of the characters we get as pov characters in the owl house. It’s easy to see Boscha through their eyes because that’s how she’s presented to us, but there’s so much more going on with her than just Amity’s old not-really-friend and Willow’s bully. And while Boscha’s view on the world is totally screwed and she definitely isn’t right about it, she’s not entirely in the wrong about it either, and the way Amity acts like everything about their lives the way they were is something Boscha can just leave and reject is something I honestly feel is totally fair for Boscha to be pissed about. Let me explain.
The way I see it and the way I feel like it's meant to be conveyed (at least before they randomly dropped Boscha in season 2) is that Amity, and by extension Boscha, are just as much victims of classism and elitism as characters like Willow are. They're raised and conditioned by their parents to have a set and restrictive worldview with heavy consequences if they fail to properly play their part. Whether or not they actually want to do the things they do is entirely irrelevant, they're being directed by people in a position fundamentally designed to have power over them (their parents) in a world where said parents' very conception of power itself is immovably intertwined with the abuse of it, regardless of who it's over. So of course Boscha has been trained to carry on the legacy of the elite and everything it stands for, and even if it was something she wanted to change there's every likelihood it's been drilled into her from a young age by her parents that any attempt to do so is very much not a safe option. So while Boscha is obviously a manipulative and massive jerk, she's also literally a child, and one who's spent her whole life as just a puppet for her parents to direct at that.
For her, all the way up until everything with Luz happens, Amity is a companion in her struggles, one of the few people in the world she thinks can actually understand her. Then suddenly Amity is acting like everything they've gone through together is optional, like she can just say no and walk away.
For Willow and Luz, Amity is finally accepting who she really is, she's standing up for herself, she's doing all the right things. For Boscha, Amity is betraying her. Amity, who is fully aware of what life is like for them, and hates it, is leaving her alone.
Boscha, who believed Amity understood her, who took solace in the fact that she, at the very least, wasn't alone, now has to face the fact that Amity went from right there with her to fully against her in a matter of seconds, and now she gets to sit there wondering if Amity ever really cared about her in the first place.
And now, as if Amity leaving her alone wasn't enough, Amity is acting like she's the bad person for staying where she is. The one person who should know and understand exactly why Boscha can't just change her life on the spot, is now acting like she's a monster for not doing that very thing. It's the ultimate betrayal and it's far too much for a kid like Boscha to handle.
And let me be very clear I'm definitely not saying Amity is in the wrong for changing how she lives her life, or for trying to protect Willow from Boscha and all of that. Amity is trying to do the right thing and she's being incredibly brave and it's incredible and we can see in her every moment in the show how good it is for her.
But the fact that she is able to have that only reinforces how horrible the situation Boscha is still stuck in really is. It's not Amity's responsibility to fix it, and she didn't do a single thing that she didn't have every right to do. But for Boscha, watching Amity change more every day, from her position still trapped inside the life she thought they were both stuck in, the one person she counted on now resenting her?
It makes sense for her to feel like she's the one being turned on and left behind, and for it to only make everything worse.
Boscha deserves to escape from where she is just as much as Amity did. And I even feel like the concept of Boscha thinking Amity was this person who really cared about her all this time, only for Amity to turn on her so fast and seem to not even have any reservations, leaving Boscha wondering if Amity ever actually cared about her, which leads to wondering if anyone ever actually cared about her, is honestly one of the biggest tragedies the owl house has in its repertoire.
To reiterate because I cannot stress it enough: Amity had and has no obligation to fix Boscha's life, she's got enough on her plate worrying about her own problems, its a fucked up situation, so yeah I don't blame Amity at all and think she's well within her right.
Alternatively I also think Boscha is totally within her own right to be pissed at how Amity is treating her and the whole situation. It’s a complex and nuanced relationship and progression of events. These kids are stuck in a situation no kid should ever have to be in in the first place.
If anything the fact season 2 just. Fuckin forgot about her is very reflective of the actual development happening with her character. Boscha gets left behind both in universe and in the show. How meta. In all seriousness though, the owl house season 1 beautifully set up this character and her relationship to Amity and how important the development of one was to the other and it brings me so much pain that season 2 just never even touches on it. At this point I’m genuinely worried Boscha will never get the focus and second half of a story that she was set up for, but I still have hope. Thank you for listening to my speech.
Anime >>>> cartoons
Both can be good, but I have my reasons for this. Perhpas I will explain it in a different post! (and not just bc of the fact that I love anime ofc lol)

i really just want to know because that’s a major plot point and everyone kind of skipped over it because lumity,, like trust me i love lumity but we have an agenda and not just the gay one
Someone asked for Lumity with witch costumes and I guess I went the extra mile for spooky fashion 🎃
Hai amityyy yep yepppp yeah uhuh
Still not over how season 2 of the owl house took all of the beautiful setup and character they gave Boscha in season 1, and how important Amity and her development is to Boscha’s own story, and went “ok so she’s never gonna show up again”
Important question I need answered by season 2B: Did Belos give Kikimora the ability to do the coven patch thing/design the patches with the intent for her to be able to do that, or did he wander in on her robbing a coven member blind one day and was like “well holy shit I’m keeping this hand chicken.”
Baby Luz sketch :>
Is a Hercules AU where Luz and Amity are Hercules and Meg, and Lilith and Hunter are Pain and Panic too much to ask for?
Rereading a fanfic that I literally finished two days ago just to feel something again.

Eda: So, I guess I saved you from a boring existence.
Raine: Occasionally, I miss boring.
Eda: Alright, so this guy I robbed-
Raine: I miss conversations that didn't start with "this guy I robbed".
TOH X HELLUVA BOSS AU: Hell House
Creator/AU fact: I know that the cast from TOH are minors, but here they are somewhere in there's late 20s or 30s.
Got this idea, from another Idea I had, of how Blitz and Hunter kinda have the same thing going on.
