Ok I saw a post about Leverage: this one
And it reminded me about the things I wanna do re: physical training
Things I like to do: climb, fight, hike, build, skate
So, functional strength and technique training, mostly.
But climbing, here used in a broad sense because I climb everything, rocks and buildings and trees and inside of things, requires a good amount of flexibility as well
And then there's the issue of my messed up joints / connective tissues.
I used to train (a bit, never got too far into any regimens because of pain/school/adhd) to fight, and mostly by practicing for the other things, but as time goes on my joints have gotten worse, so I need a plan.
Started a physical job (landscaping) which is helping build some functional muscle back, some of which I've lost from being sedentary. It's hurting, but I think it's going to hurt less as time goes on.
Working on how to stretch without messing myself up. That's a big one, because I've got to stretch, there's way too much tension after work, and in general from anxiety / holding my bones together, but as said the tension is serving a purpose.
Still too cold to safely swim, but it's getting there. And should be able to start climbing some things again soon. The trees on my property aren't great for climbing, but there are some buildings around, i just have to decide to leave the house.
Car is finally registered, and with some income I can now afford to drive a little, get to the nice hiking trails a little further off, because I've explored around here but walking on concrete is just. Awful.
And then the only reasons I haven't been training forms during quarantine are it's easier when I can do so in a group, and then pain/fatigue, but also my mom would inevitably want to join in and I don't want her to. So, I have to put more effort into just. Going out and training, when she's not here.
Or head into the slightly secluded section of backyard where she might not think to look for me, but the anxiety of having her come out there would distract me a lot. Could also..leave..there's a whole field not 1000 feet from the backyard..
Anyway. Plan?
Thinking....
Track down staffs and practice sticks, store in room, hang punching bag.
Track down skates, put by the door.
Keep working.
Stretch gently, track down PT, look up more PT exercises, keep on hand and on phone.
Invite myself to my friend's moon board whenever he says it's ok, start climbing there and wherever. Maybe get ahold of some gloves for climbing so I don't think so hard about my knuckles.
Keep checking river temp.
Get ahold of my kung fu teacher and ask if he's got videos posted anywhere, I'm way out of practice. Go out in the yard or the field and do that, and whatever else I decide would be good, whenever I have a minute, but pick a day to definitely do it every week.
Invite my people to come with me on hikes, go whether they come or not. Probably on Sundays.
Look up ways to stretch without overextending things or compromising the bizarre systems holding my body together.
Drink water. Eat food.
I don't know, guys. Thoughts? Any advice?
