When the McElroys made Knife Dad and Knife Dad’s Gay Daughter they were really attuned to the culture weren’t they
It’s been days and quite literally the only thing I can think of is the unique relationship between video games and its players.
How the interactive medium changes how we view fiction, how experiencing and being part of the story being told can form an inextricable bond between person and fiction, but also how it’s a two-way street and the way we play games—especially immersive sims, but also other genres—actively shape our perception, our personal version of the story being told. Yes, there are games where choice points trigger different endings or scenarios or whatnot, but I mean more than just that. We find ourselves doing things because we believe that’s what our player character would naturally do in that position. Or we play contrary to what the game intends us to do, and that creates a rift between what is scripted and what is emergent, a rift that would not have existed if not for our own, organic input. Whether we play lethally or non-lethally, ramble around or go straight from one objective to another, do things efficiently or with flair and panache—the things we do are also inevitably what the player character does, and as such the story is in our hands just as it is in the game developers’.
It’s one thing to hear, read, watch a story; it’s another to hold it in your hands, to feel its heartbeat against your fingers knowing that while it has its own course, its own destiny, what you do or not do with it will also take part in molding its final form, even if it’s just for you, just in this particular experience of that game.
And then, you can do it again. And again, and again, as many times as you want. Repeat the story exactly as before. Change a few key points. Do everything differently. Every playthrough brings a new iteration of that story, built on the same bones, but somehow never the same, never an exact replica.
I dunno, I thought I had a point somewhere. Maybe I don’t. Maybe it’s another hyperfixation on my already lengthy list. But at least I got some of the thoughts rattling in my skull materialised and set loose onto the world.

Since I have no idea how to draw animals, I was based on photos I found on internet and inspired from Polterkitty for the LM3 style, obviously.
I am certainly the only dumbass to do that but yeah I decided to make Paloma as black cat because what I love from these cats is in the cartoons we only see their eyes. And so in Paloma’s case, we also see her wings!!
It’s a good contrast actually since black cats are considered as evil, related to witches, having bad luck and some dumb shit like that.
Yep, instead of a simple cat, we have here a black panther. ~
It’s actually pretty hard to find a good model for drawing panther 😭 I didn’t find a good pose for drawing her the head to paws….
And now coming back to a classic cat, the difference here is this one has a body longer and a little taller, based on a siamese cat
(the BEST) and of course there is wings in fur.
Actually when you check on internet ‘Winged cats’, there is REAL cats who have wings in fur. It’s some kind a misgrowth I guess… In all cases, that gives me ideas for my cat version ~
Hope you like my art!
