Mehr und mehr glaube ich mich für die NC750X (Baujahr 2017) inklusive DCT (Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) entschieden zu haben. Der Marcel besitzt eine solche und ihn hab ich besucht um eine Probefahrt machen zu können. On the other hand, we ended up going to Tentsmuir Beach in Fife, which I hadn’t visited before. I very much enjoyed walking barefoot on the sand on the last few warm days, before the cold Autumn weather set in. In the video I discuss the history around Scone Palace and the Stone of Destiny, which is considered the traditional Scottish inauguration stone. This practice may have been taken from the Irish, for example, there is an inauguration site at Tara and at Dunadd in Argyll there is a cut rock in the shape of a foot, into which the new king would have placed his. The origin story of the stone traces it back to the Holy Land from whence it was transported to Ireland by the Egyptian princess Scota, from whom the Scots take their name. Is there any truth to that? It’s hard to say. In 1296 Edward I of England famously took the stone away to London and placed it in his coronation chair (unfortunately they also ransacked Scone Abbey and many documents were burned). Edward had tried to turn Scotland into a sub-kingdom and they had resisted and continued to do so even after he took the stone. Robert the Bruce had to flee after being crowned the new King of Scotland on Moot Hill, Edward’s soldiers approaching to detain him. The new king went into hiding for many years, but eventually Edward, ‘The Hammer of the Scots’, died and Robert I of Scotland won the decisive Battle of Bannockburn against Edward II. The Stone of Destiny remained in London and each monarch crowned there would sit upon the stone. Now, there is a legend that the monks of Scone Abbey, knowing that Edward was coming, replaced the real stone with a fake one. Having analysed the stone, historians concluded that it was made from local sandstone. It’s probably not from the Holy Land then, but it could still be the stone that Kenneth MacAlpin, considered to have united the Scots and Picts, was crowned on in 843. On Christmas Eve 1950, four Scottish students set out to return the stone to Scotland. They broke into Westminster Abbey, where the stone was kept and managed to smuggle it over the Scottish border (in two parts as the slab of 336 Pounds broke in two when they removed it). Eventually, the stone was returned, but it sparked new rumours that the actual stone was hidden and that a copy was presented to the authorities. Whether the stone is real or not, it now typically resides in Edinburgh Castle, but will go back to Westminster for the coronation of the next British monarch.
